They're a staple in every runner's closet. If you're newer to running shoes, you can confidently start your journey here.

  • Performance TrainersPerformance Trainers

They make fast runs faster and long runs easier. Their high versatility also makes them great choices as accessible racing shoes.

  • Super ShoesSuper Shoes

The pinnacle of the pyramid, super shoes are the fastest running shoes you can buy. They're designed to race your absolute best and are the apex of running-shoe technology and innovation. Often built with carbon-fiber plates and cutting-edge superfoams for the highest energy return, they're made for ultimate racing speed.

Men's Running Shoes by Surface

  • Roads & PavementRoads & Pavement

Road running shoes feature smooth outsoles that are designed for running on paved surfaces such as roads, sidewalks, and bike paths.

  • Smooth Trails & FireroadsSmooth Trails & Fireroads

Designed to handle most trail runs, these shoes prioritize comfort and a smooth ride. These shoes are great for anything from smooth singletrack, park trails, and fireroads making them ideal for those who run from their doorstep on streets before hitting the trail.

  • Rocky & Technical TrailsRocky & Technical Trails

These shoes are best used for hard, rugged trails such as shale, granite or sandstone where grip on smooth surfaces and underfoot protection are important.

  • Soft & Muddy TrailsSoft & Muddy Trails

Designed for use in muddy, soggy conditions, these shoes feature very aggressive outsoles that dig deep into soft ground for exceptional traction.

  • Snowy & Icy TrailsSnowy & Icy Trails

These shoes feature technical outsoles designed to grip snowy and icy trails making them ideal for winter trail running.

Cushioning Level

  • Cushioning level, or stack height, refers to how much shoe is between your foot and the ground. For this category, we reference the amount of cushioning below the forefoot as the heel height will be equal to or greater than the forefoot height.
Learn more about stack heights and how we measure them.

  • Barefoot

0-13mm. The Shoe generally does not have a midsole and feels like there is no cushioning. This shoe is all about feeling the ground underfoot.

  • Minimal

14-18mm. The shoe has a thin midsole that allows for a natural running experience. Racing shoes and minimalist shoes are common here. These shoes offer a feeling of being connected to the road or trail.

  • Low

19-23mm. The shoe has a slightly cushioned feel and may feature added cushioning technologies. Performance training shoes and some trail shoes are common here. These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience.

  • Medium

24-28mm. These shoes have a stack height that fall near the middle of the spectrum. The shoes in this category are verstaile and great for all types of runs and distances.

  • High

29-34mm. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. These shoes are highly protective and absorb more impact than the body.

  • Maximal

35mm plus. The shoe has an extremely thick midsole and extra cushioning. The focus is on protection and soft foam underfoot with hardly any ground feel.

Stability Level

  • Neutral Running Shoes

Neutral shoes support the foot through a normal range of arch collapse and generally do not have built-in technology to correct movement.

  • Stability Running Shoes

Stability shoes are a great option for those who overpronate or need added support. These shoes help to limit the inward rolling motion of the ankle while running or walking and assist in guiding the foot straight through the gait cycle.

Product Highlights:

For soft comfort that can handle even the longest of runs, Topo Athletic introduces the new Atmos, a highily cushioned daily trainer. The midsole, featuring Zip Foam, provides a soft and protective underfoot experience that doesn't feel sluggish when you want to pick up the pace. For additional comfort, the wide anatomically-shaped toe box allows for toe splay, while the secure midfoot and heel keep the foot locked down in the shoe.

The rubber outsole equips runners with reliable traction and the durability needed to last for many miles, and the shoe is finished with a breathable engineered mesh upper that offers a comfortable hold of the foot. Overall, the Topo Athletic Atmos is an ideal choice for runners and walkers looking for a highly cushioned shoe with a naturally roomy toe box and a low heel-toe offset.

How We Measure Our Shoe Specs

  • We measure every shoe in-house to provide accurate and consistent details.

  • Weight

The weight is based on a Men's size 9 for Men's and Unisex shoes or Women's size 8 for Women's shoes. The weight listed is for a single shoe, including the laces.

  • Heel Stack

The heel stack refers to how high your heel sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Forefoot Stack

Forefoot stack refers to how high the ball of the foot sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Heel-toe Offset

Heel-toe offset (drop) is the difference in height between the heel stack and the forefoot stack. We use the number given to us by the brand.

How We Measure Shoe Fit

  • All measurements are based on Medium width.

  • Fit (width) options are Narrow - Snug - Average - Roomy - Wide.

  • Sizing (length) options are Short - True - Long. Note: fit is relative to the "average" running shoe.

  • We partner with SmartLast, a program by Heeluxe, to use advanced shoe-measuring technology, to provide objective measurements for toe box, midfoot, and heel widths as well as overall length.

Thank goodness...These shoes are nearly perfect. I could not live with the Topo wide toe box after a major foot surgery. The cushion is sooo comfortable and the 5mm drop is just right for me. Please do not ever discontinue the Atmos.

At Last! The Topo Atoms is divinely comfortable. The cushioning is perfect...the toe box is just what I needed. After long, long searches I have found the shoe for me. Please don't ever discontinue this one Topo.

Super comfyI’m already a fan of Topo trail shoes, so this was a new one to try. After foot/toe surgery I needed a good, stable shoe. This one fit the bill perfectly. Snugger in the rear of the foot with a luxuriously wide toe box, this shoe is extremely comfortable with just enough cushion.

Good not greatI love the roomy toebox and cushioned ride. I have about 75 miles in them and they are just starting to get too soft a little too fast. I tried these over the altra fwd via and think I like the altra shape a little better. Gets a little too narrow in the midfoot for me. Overall good shoe, first 50 miles were fantastic, starting to get a little too squishy

Great concept, poor executionI bought this shoe in hopes that the wide tor box would deliver comfort not offered by other shoes. For reference, I am a standard width, high arch footed runner. The quality of shoe seemed good. I ran 2 runs in this shoe for a total of 16 miles and the arch pain was excruciating. It felt like I had half of a golfball under my arches. The toe box and lockdown were nice, but the arch was so bad I returned the shoes(thank you RW for your excellent customer service). Also, the foam was pretty firm and not something I would want to run in for very long.

Wide toe box for the winI wear these for my everyday shoes. The wide toe box is the winning feature for me. I do wish they looked cooler though.

Intrusive ArchI had high hopes for these but they just felt weird and the arch was too intrusive/high for me. I'm sure they are great for other people just didn't work out for me.

Most Comfortable Shoe everThe only issue is the paint on side wall peeled the first time I wore them. I'm in the process of trying to get them replaced and see if the next pair does the same thing.

I wanted to love itI wanted to love this shoe but after trying it on multiple runs of different distances I continued to get a pain on the outside of my mid foot. That part of my foot seemed to “hang off” the side of the shoe. Not the right shape for my feet but they felt great aside from that. Would be a great recovery/ max cushion daily trainer for somebody with the right shaped foot. Lock down was great, ample toe room, great grip, all around solid shoe. Wish it fit me better!

Everyday shoesI wear these as my everyday shoes chasing my toddler around. They are comfortable and cushioned. But what I like the most is the wide toe box. I will say, they could definitely improve the look as compared to other brands. But the function for my purposes is perfect.

Love TopoI love Topo. The roomy toe box with secure but comfortable mid foot along with a 5mm drop is perfect for me. I had my knee replaced last year after 50+ marathons and utras so when Topo dropped the Atmos, I was all over it. It's the Specter but more plush. It's my daily workout running shoe.

AtmosThis shoe is perfect for wide feet! Generous toe box and high cushion really makes longer runs a breeze. I am able to pick up the pace for some occasional strides also! Perfect daily trainer.

If Hoka And Altra Had A Shoe BabyThis is what I read in a previous review, and I was sold. I ordered a pair and ran a 100K out of the box (just like we are not supposed to, right?). I have been a long long time wearer of Hoka, mainly the Bondi. I want the cushion on my long road runs and everyday training as I train for 100's and multi-day road events of 500K plus. I had decided that blisters were my lot in life. I like the fit and roominess of Altra, love them on the trail, but I just could not seem to find the cushion for the long road. When I put on the Atmos, I was very excited. THIS is the shoe I have been dreaming of. I have continued to wear them in training and do still alternate the Atmos with my other favorite brands, but these are for sure my go to long run shoe. I will definitely order another pair before my next long event. Breathable, light, roomy, and I don't feel like I am stacked to the sky. I am very happy with the Atmos!

Unusual MidsoleThe Topo Cyclone and Specter work well for me. But, not the Atomos. I was hoping for a thick midsole trainer from Topo to compliment the two faster day shoes. I did not like the energy return or durability of this shoe. The midsole foam began to collapse and twist inward after not many runs.

Comfortable Volume Driven WorkhorseGreetings Fellow Runners. Wide 2E foot. Used NB 1080s for many years but something changed-perhaps it was me (as we do over time). Purchased pair of Topo trail then running shoes and found them to fit and function very well. I mainly use these shoes for dialed back activities or long runs. Adequate combination of pop and comfort-I thought they would have more pop but overall pleased. Have worn since the New Year and show little signs of wear. Topo continues to serve quality products for folks like me with a wider foot. Thank you for your time.

Excellent fit, cushion and energy! The fit on this shoe is excellent - nice toe room paired with snug ankle fit. The new cushioning and movement in this shoe works very well. They just move wonderfully!

Love themI have been a Topo fan for several years, both trail and road. I love the roomy toe box and how they fit like a sock. I had a TKR this year. The introduction of the Atmos was serendipitous for me. It has all the same benefits but with the cushioning I need. Imagine a cross between a Hoka and a Altra.

Incredible shoe BUT...Wow, quality and comfort, but no matter how I tightened the laces, my foot slid over and down the medial side. I have a very neutral foot with high arches. Size was medium, but was very wide.

SmoooooothReally enjoying these so far as a daily trainer. Maybe the midsole could be a touch softer but the inherent stability is great, and the overall sensation is smoothness as you transition in your stride. It seems to let your stride do what it wants to rather than trying to bounce you from step to step like some supertrainers or use aggressive rockers that can throw off your rhythm.
