Product Details:

In a world where running shoes are reaching new heights every year, both figuratively and literally, the adidas adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 manages to eclipse all of them and takes innovation to a new stratosphere. When a running shoe helps achieve a World Record at its debut race (Tigst Assefa at the 2023 Berlin Marathon), then you know it's the real deal. Everyone has heard the phrase "less is more", and that's just about the best way to describe the Adios Pro Evo 1. This shoe weighs a mind-blowing 4.8 oz in a Men's US 9 while maintaining a max stack height––a must for top level marathoners. Despite its low weight, the adios Pro Evo 1 delivers the most responsive and efficient ride seen in an adidas running shoe to date, making this elite marathon racer a true game-changer.

The midsole features a high stack of the brand's revolutionary Lightstrike Pro foam for an ultra-lightweight yet highly cushioned and responsive ride. Adding to the propulsive experience of this shoe are the carbon EnergyRods embedded in the midsole that deliver an explosive, yet stable toe-off. Moreover, the overall geometry of the shoe, including a first-of-its kind forefoot rocker aids in pushing your momentum forward efficiently.

Continuing the theme of being anything but ordinary, the outsole of the Adios Pro Evo 1 is made up of a paper thin layer of rubber outsole that aims to keep things as light as possible without compromising traction during your race. And wrapping the Adios Pro Evo 1 up is a lightweight mesh upper that offers the necessary security and breathability to get you through the race without anything extra or unnecessary.

Keep in mind that this shoe was built to deliver the best performance for a single marathon with a familiarization period beforehand. While this shoe is not built to last for a lifetime, its mission is to help you achieve the dreams and goals that will stay with you forever.

How We Measure Our Shoe Specs

  • We measure every shoe in-house to provide accurate and consistent details.

  • Weight

The weight is based on a Men's size 9 for Men's and Unisex shoes or Women's size 8 for Women's shoes. The weight listed is for a single shoe, including the laces.

  • Heel Stack

The heel stack refers to how high your heel sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Forefoot Stack

Forefoot stack refers to how high the ball of the foot sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Heel-toe Offset

Heel-toe offset (drop) is the difference in height between the heel stack and the forefoot stack. We use the number given to us by the brand.

How We Measure Shoe Fit

  • All measurements are based on Medium width.

  • Fit (width) options are Narrow - Snug - Average - Roomy - Wide.

  • Sizing (length) options are Short - True - Long. Note: fit is relative to the "average" running shoe.

  • We partner with SmartLast, a program by Heeluxe, to use advanced shoe-measuring technology, to provide objective measurements for toe box, midfoot, and heel widths as well as overall length.

Cushioning Level

  • BarefootBarefoot

0-13mm. The Shoe generally does not have a midsole and feels like there is no cushioning. This shoe is all about feeling the ground underfoot.

  • MinimalMinimal

14-18mm. The shoe has a thin midsole that allows for a natural running experience. Racing shoes and minimalist shoes are common here. These shoes offer a feeling of being connected to the road or trail.

  • LowLow

19-23mm. The shoe has a slightly cushioned feel and may feature added cushioning technologies. Performance training shoes and some trail shoes are common here. These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience.

  • MediumMedium

24-28mm. These shoes have a stack height that fall near the middle of the spectrum. The shoes in this category are verstaile and great for all types of runs and distances.

  • HighHigh

29-34mm. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. These shoes are highly protective and absorb more impact than the body.

  • MaximalMaximal

35mm plus. The shoe has an extremely thick midsole and extra cushioning. The focus is on protection and soft foam underfoot with hardly any ground feel.

Technologies

MIDSOLE

  • Lightstrike Pro has been revolutionized and is crafted in a non-compression molding process. Its weight has been greatly reduced, but also provides greater energy return.
  • Carbon EnergyRods provides stiffness and stability while increasing energy return and effortless strides.

OUTSOLE

  • Thin Layers of Rubber are strategically placed in the forefoot and heel to offer grip where needed without compromising the goal of achieving the lowest weight possible.

UPPER

  • Mesh material is ultra-light, yet secure.

Goal chaserLightest road racing shoe I've ever had. Thin upper breathable material; had slight lock down issue the first couple wear, but I figured out the lacing. It has a nice roll off sensation and gets the legs moving. Took it on the track for a few quarter repeats and it felt premium; good cushion but I wanted a little more pop. Ready to use these for my next race

My Favorite Race Shoe but PriceyThis shoe is fantastic, stripped down to the bare minimum for race day but it is still very comfortable. Toe rocker and foam feel great and want to go fast. If you want to splurge on an expensive shoe for an important race (or if you're lucky enough not to care), this is the way to go.

Lives Up to the HypeI was very hesitant to purchase the Adios Pro Evo 1, primarily because of the ludicrous price, but also because I have historically been disappointed by Adidas. I took the gamble because of Running Warehouse’s very generous return policy that I could rely on if the shoe didn’t work for me. I was pleasantly surprised by how impressive the shoe felt underfoot. The lightweight construction makes the shoe feel like nothing is on the feet, while the substantial stack height is both highly effective at absorbing impact and creating a nice bounce. Unlike many other Adizero models as of late, the Pro Evo 1 has a very stable underfoot experience that should work well regardless of a pronated, neutral, or supinated toe-off. I was really looking for any reason to say no to this shoe and get a pair of Alphaflys and $250 to spare, but I can genuinely say that these are the fastest road racing shoes I have worn. For context, I have worn the Vaporfly Next%, the Alphafly Next%, the Fuelcell 5280, the Endorphin Pro, the Adios Pro 2, the Alphafly Next% 2, the Vaporfly Next% 3, the Fuelcell SC Elite, and the Pro Evo 1. I can genuinely say that the Adios Pro Evo 1 feels faster than any of those. Of course there is the price concern, which I can wholeheartedly agree is an outrage. $500 should not be the price of a racing shoe, but it seems that’s what you’ll have to pay to play. An even greater concern than the money would have to be the availability, as there are currently only 1267 currently available on the global market. My advice to anyone considering the Pro Evo 1 would be to ask yourself if you can justify the great cost. Are you simply trying to complete a road race? Are you going for a Boston Qualifier? Are you set on gaining that edge to improve your running career? If you are not dead set on going faster at any cost, this is not the shoe for you. However, if you want to run in the fastest shoe on the market, this is the option for you.

So LIGHT!This shoe is unbelievably light, has perfectly placed tacky traction on the outsole, is super breathable and an amazing spongy cushion feeling. Feel faster wearing this shoe!
