The Ultramarathon

A 50K is an ultramarathon, welcome to the world of ultras! Typically the name of the game is how to avoid bonking and stay fresh.

Gear Recommendations:

Shoes: Durable trail shoes with excellent traction and more cushioning to handle longer distances and rougher terrain.

Hydration: A hydration pack, belt or handhelds are encouraged. Make sure you know how far the aid stations are spaced out to plan accordingly.

Clothing: Similar to the half marathon, but include quick-dry, anti-chafe apparel and possibly a change of socks or shirt.

Nutrition: Is a must for most 50Ks; include a mix of gels, bars, and possibly real food depending on personal preference.
