Track and Field Distance Spikes
Distance Spikes can be broken down into two categories. Middle Distance, which generally includes the 800m, 1500m, and 1600m events, and Long Distance, which generally includes the 3000m, steeplechase, 3200m, 5000m and 10000m events. These spikes contain a higher level of cushioning and less aggressive design to allow for greater comfort over the longer distances.
Track and Field Long Distance Spikes
Long Distance track spikes are best suited for the 3000m, steeplechase, 3200m (Two-mile), 5,000m and 10,000m track events. The most expensive Long Distance track spikes are for use exclusively on rubber/all weather tracks. Lower priced models are designed for use on all track surfaces (dirt, asphalt, rubber/all weather).
