Our In-Depth Look
The Nike Vomero Plus is for you if...
You're looking for maximum comfort for your recovery or daily runs
You’re willing to exchange some speed for some luxury
Other max-stacked shoes have felt too cramped
What is the Nike Vomero Plus made for?
Designed to give max-cushion lovers "the full ZoomX experience," the Vomero Plus packs 43 mm worth of Nike's superfoam into their latest offering, in an attempt to elevate their soft and responsive cruiser, the Vomero, to new heights.
The Vomero lineup has been around for a long time, making a name for themselves by offering reliably smooth, comfortable rides. The Vomero 18 offered a combination of softness and responsiveness by using a duo of ZoomX and ReactX for a hybrid comfort experience. Now, adding an elevated offering to the max-cushion lineup feels like a natural progression for this model series. The Vomero Plus goes all out with a full midsole of ZoomX foam to maximize plushness in a sky-high stack height. The question is, did Nike get the equation right? Or did they commit too fully for the Vomero to maintain its usual premium feel? We took the Nike Vomero Plus out for a spin and, spoilers, we liked what we found.
Comfort
The Nike Vomero Plus is built with comfort as its first, second, and third priorities, and it shows. We were big fans of Nike’s ZoomX midsole foam which walked the line between cushy and stable admirably throughout our runs. The Vomero Plus’s flexible upper and its roomy heel design made the shoe easy to slip on and off.
It’s a heavy shoe, but not egregiously heavier than other max-cushioned trainers, and the upper feels soft and adaptive, but it does not feel especially breathable. The density of the upper stood out as one small mark against a shoe that otherwise provided a uniquely pleasant and... yeah... comfortable ride. Whether running in the shoes, or just utilizing them for general wear, the Nike Vomero Plus stayed cushy and pleasant.
Performance
Let's be very clear about what we mean by performance here. The Nike Vomero Plus is not a shoe built to pick up the pace, or to go chasing PRs in. It’s the most at home in low, slow recovery paces and daily training activities. If that’s the pace you’re looking for, then the Nike Vomero Plus offers a plush, responsive ride and, performance-wise, it shines through how fresh our legs felt, even after a day's worth of grinding miles.
The shoe's maximum stack height adds some heft, but it also enhances the shoe’s stability, ensuring that every footstrike feels cool, supported, and plush enough to keep you excited to turn around and get back out there day after day after day.
Fit
We were incredibly pleased with the overall fit of the Nike Vomero Plus. With a grand total of zero blisters or hotspots reported from our testers, and a length and width combination that were refreshingly true to size, the Nike Vomero Plus created consistently roomy, enjoyable wraps across our feet. The shoe provides an easy to love, full foot feeling that carries the luxurious feeling of its midsole up, throughout the rest of the shoe by leaving just the right amount of extra volume and room in the toe box so that no part of us felt cramped or squished throughout our runs.
The one big knock to the Vomero Plus’s fit came as a result of their new looped lacing system which didn't deliver quite the level of midfoot lockdown that we would have preferred. Instead, our laces tended to come loose quickly on the couple of occasions when we tried to pick up the pace.
Individual Thoughts

The Vomero Plus is a shoe I looked forward to testing after putting in a lot of miles in the Vomero 18 earlier this year. I have enjoyed many slow recovery miles in the Vomero Plus. I love the fit and overall comfort it provides. For people who have concerns over Nike shoes fitting narrow, the Vomero Plus has a more generous fit in the midfoot and forefoot, with plenty of volume for my feet. I love the sensation of running on a soft, pillowlike midsole, but I do wish they had a touch more energy return like the Vomero 18. There is something special about the Zoom X and React combo that the Vomero 18 has that is missing for me in a full Zoom X midsole. Overall it’s a shoe I have been wearing a couple runs a week when I want ultimate comfort, while also looking cute.

The Vomero Plus hits the mark as a max-cushion daily trainer, offering a plush, energetic ride that works well for easy runs, long efforts, or everyday wear. Its increased plushness provides a more even landing than the standard model, though some may find the softer cushioning to feel a bit on the bulkier side. A soft and flexible upper with a wide tongue offers plenty of comfort with an accommodating fit up top. The shoe fits true to size in length and width, though they did sometimes come a bit loose because of the new looped lacing system. As a result, some mild instability can creep in during longer runs. Still, the Vomero Plus kept my feet feeling fresh without any hotspots or arch pain, making it a reliable option for comfort-focused runners.
