What's New
A brand that has earned its reputation for producing high-quality running apparel, rabbit offers a competitive race day option with the women's Fuel n' Fly short. These shorts have a semi-relaxed feel and feature a mid-rise adjustable waistband for a personalized fit and a built-in liner made from Polartec Power Dry with Fresh Face technology to help keep you dry and cool all the way to the finish line. The half-split design with roomy leg openings allows for freedom of movement. Meanwhile, the laser-cut perforations and peppermint-based anti-odor treatment offer abundant airflow and sustainable odor control for longer-lasting freshness. The perforations on the sides deliver extra breathability and cooling ventilation, making it optimal for hot weather runs. With five ample pockets and 2.5" and 4" inseam options, the rabbit Fuel N' Fly can handle any distance.
The Bottom Line
Overall, our testers loved the lightweight performance, comfortable fit, and ample storage offered by the rabbit Fuel n' Fly shorts. The moisture-wicking material was very comfortable, highly breathable, and ready to shine on long runs or races. The five pockets provided space to fit a phone, gels, and other essential items, allowing the wearer to extend their runs. The split shorts' speedy design and bonded seams caused no irritations and our testers experienced a weightless, barely-there feel for a distraction-free run.
Although the price point is on the high end for a split short, the construction and durability of rabbit's Fuel n' Fly lives up to the rabbit name by being a high-quality piece that's sure to please fans of the brand and anyone who wants to speed ahead in easy breezy comfort. The rabbit Fuel n' Fly ticks off all the right boxes and comes highly recommended as a welcome addition to any runner's gear.
Our In-Depth Look
Features & Style
Grace: I really liked the 4" length of the Fuel n' Fly that I tested out. These shorts don’t bunch up and feature a wide-leg opening that feels like you are running without any restrictions. I also appreciate the perforated holes on the sides and split leg that give you a light and airy feel. The waistband and mid-rise fit are comfortable. There are multiple pockets to carry gels, some cash, keys, etc., making these a great option for all distances.
Risa: I felt rabbit was very thoughtful in their design of the Fuel n' Fly, which features five pockets, a brief liner, half split style, laser cut perforations, and more great details. I will no longer buy running shorts without pockets, and these shorts truly check all the boxes. The Fuel n' Fly has two front pockets that will fit gels, two slightly larger pockets in the back that fit my Beats Fit Pro headphones case, and a phone case in the back center pocket. One small qualm was that the design wasn't the most flattering in the back, as it felt a bit flattening.
Fit & Comfort
Grace: The waistband on these shorts is super comfortable; they stay in place without feeling snug and have plenty of room in the thighs for all-day wear with no chafing. Rabbit suggests sizing down if you are in between sizes. I don’t have enough experience in rabbit apparel to know what their shorts typically fit like. For reference, I am 5’6 and 117 lbs and the size small fits very well.
Risa: The material feels technical, but I found the shorts comfortable. I would say it is slightly soft, not rough. I don’t typically sweat much, especially on my legs, but the shorts felt extremely breathable. I would describe the overall experience as a “barely there” feel. I only tested the shorts on runs under an hour, but I would be highly surprised if these caused any chafing on long runs because the seams are so minimal.
Quality & Value
Grace: The Fuel n' Fly shorts have a very durable and lightweight construction. These shorts remind me of the Nike Aeroswift split shorts, which I also enjoy and use frequently for long runs and races. The Nike Aeroswift shorts cost $79.95, and the rabbit Fuel n' Fly shorts are $75.00. In terms of durability, they seem to be as durable as the Aeroswift shorts, so they are worth the price!
Risa: I have only worn the shorts a handful of times, so I can’t speak to how they will hold up in the long term. However, I have had many rabbit products that are still going strong after a few years, and I would expect the same from these shorts.
Individual Thoughts

The rabbit Fuel n' Fly short is a lightweight split short made with high-quality materials. The shorts feel comfortable, offer no restrictions on my runs, and allow me to perform to the best of my abilities. I love the color and flowy fit. I am highly satisfied with these shorts and see myself taking them on many long runs and race adventures to come!

After testing, the Fuel n' Fly is now one of my favorite running shorts! It feels weightless and speedy and has all the pockets (five!) you could ask for out of a split short. The Fuel n' Fly is now in a close second to my Nike Aeroswift shorts, which I find ever so slightly more comfortable and flattering.
