Comments:†The XA filter had so much potential. We used two on a 31 mile trail run and †the filter was exactly what was needed. Way faster than a sawyer mini. Unfortunately for me- that ended the minute that the 42mm threads were designed differently than the 500ml speed flask which also has 42mm threads- and Doesn't fit on those bottles. Unfortunately I found that out on a run where I planned to Fill up two additional speed flasks and put the cap on them then swap the filter between bottles so that I could move faster and not have to filter into bottles before leaving the water source. Since it doesn't fit-I consider it a failure of design- and since Salomon shows a photo of the filter beside the speed flask, and says it fits most 42mm thread bottles- one would think it fits. Unfortunately Salomon avoids telling you which bottles it's actually compatible with. It is not compatible with the 500ml speed flask I bought directly from Salomon in December so I don't know what other flasks work with††it. The filter is great- it filters water very fast, but it will unfortunately need replaced every year or so- but I can deal with that if it fit all my 42mm flaks. Great idea terrible engineering.
