First pair of ASICSAfter several years of being very sedentary I got into running (for the first time in my life!) in December of last year. I started with some Brooks as I was familiar with them. I have been enjoying running a lot and looking for my next pair of shoes, saw the Novablast line was highly recommended. These shoes are fantastic - they're light with great responsiveness and cushioning. I'm running 20-30 seconds/mile faster with these shoes with similar effort. There is a bit of heel slippage which does not affect me much if I wear thicker socks and secure the laces firmly.

Stable Responsive Everday TrainerThe NB 4 were comfortable out of the box with no hot spots. I run like a savage preferring no socks. I also am a front to mid striker. More mid when I tire. I headed out on a 6 mile run on asphalt to test the shoes. Initial feeling was a bit stiff but responsive. Cushioning was good. I am 5 foot 10 inches and 170 pounds and I felt the protection was good. Platform was stable with no excessive roll. Weight and breathability were great. I have a narrow foot and the fit felt good with a wide toe box. Definitely a positive addition as a daily trainer to my quiver!

Soft and ResponsiveBeen looking for a go to medium day trainer for a while and finally found it. Responsive enough where I can feel confident on some pickups and soft enough to feel great on the long longs.

Favorite Daily TrainerThis shoe strikes the perfect balance between cushion/support and responsiveness. I use this for all easy and long runs. I’ve had 3 pairs and they all last for 500+ miles before I’ve transitioned them into being every day walking around shoes.

My favorite road running shoeThis is the shoe I found myself grabbing most often this summer when I headed out the door. I just bought another pair. My first pair have almost 300 miles on them and I plan to probably take them to 500. It has been an awesome all around shoe for daily miles, strides, and steady running. The only runs I don’t wear them for are speed workouts and trails. A bonus is that these are the first shoes I ran in with no pain as I worked back from a case of patellar tendinitis. I’m guessing the cushion was helpful for me.

Bouncy comfortThe ASICS NovaBlast 4 are very comfortable shoes. I tried on at least 10 shoes searching for support, bounce not squish, and a roomy toe box. I did go to a men’s shoe to get a bit more room but it worked. The color is great for fall and winter too!

Great fit and balance!I really like the Novablast and wanted to find a lighter shoe which was my only issue. However, after trying out the meta speed, magic speed, and other popular shoes, I ended up back with the tried and true.

Not as great as previous versions but still vImThe Nova Blast 4 has a bit of a narrower forefoot than its predecessors, at least in my experience. This is my second pair of the 4's and I believe they still provide that lightweight responsiveness from heel to toe. They almost feel like a carbon plated shoe but they are not. They also seem to last much longer than other brands in this price range. They're a great all around shoe. I use them on long runs and intervals on the track.

Great cushioning, but a little wideFirst, these are very comfortable shoes. I love the cushioning, which is bouncy but not squishy (compared to Hokas, for instance). I have been wearing them on runs from 3-10 miles and my feet always feel fresh at the end. The shoes are, however, a little wide for my narrow feet. I have a lot of room for my feet to move around, and that leaves the fit feeling a bit sloppy. I'm experimenting with different lacing strategies, which seem to help a bit, but I'd say if you are a habitual Nike wearer, as I have been, that these might be a bit wide for you. That said, I was looking for a shoe with more room in the forefoot than the Nike Pegasus, and these shoes do have that (but you will also have a bit more width in the heel).

Fantastic Everyday Training ShoeThe Asics Novablast 4 has become my go to running shoe for my long runs and recovery runs. I remember wearing the first generation of the Novablast shoe and using it as my primary workout shoe. I feel like with the evolution of carbon technology, the Novablast has shifted into a durable and long-lasting trainer. The shoes are cable of withstanding heavy mileage. I will continue to purchase the Novablast 4 for my training runs. Asics succeeds in creating a shoe with a reputation of durability.

Great All AroundI've run in previous versions of the Novablast and find the 4s to be the best. They can handle daily, long, and some up-tempo runs. They are part of my rotation, however, if you are looking for one do-it-all all shoe, this is it.

My favorite all around running shoe! The Novablast 4 is my favorite running shoe! The cushioning is phenomenal while still having a noticeable springy responsiveness! This allows me from the first mile to the last of long runs to stay energized and is great for tempo and interval days as well! I always size up a half size on all my trainers and did for this model too. I have a high arch and a medium width foot with a narrow heel and was able to get a good lock down on these. The material of the upper is breathable and yet sturdy and supportive. My only thoughts on improvement are as follows: The laces are way too long and I have to double knot them. I don’t like the hard plastic piece on the ends of the laces. Lastly, although I love the lock down on the cushioned heel cup and Midfoot I wish the forefoot across the metarsal area was just a tiny bit tighter. Love these and just bought my second pair!

Not as bouncy nowThe first Novablast was so bouncy and unstable, but fun. As Asics has made the shoe more stable it has lost the bounce. Never a very durable shoe either. So, my last go with this model.

one of the best...I wouldn't call it the best shoe of 2024, but it does share top billing with three other favorites of mine (Magic Speed, Rebel, Boston 12). I didn't like my first run in the Novablast - the length was perfect, but it initially felt too snug in the forefoot/midfoot, and kind of clunky overall. As it turns out, it just needed a 3-mile shakedown, and my second ride was darn near perfect. My only gripe? The laces are too long.

Pretty goodGood bounce and good pop for a daily trainer. I like how much more stable the Novablasts have gotten since the v1. Unfortunately the heel collar sits very high up on the achilles and caused me to bleed a lot when I wore low socks. So my recommendation is to always wear high socks with these if that's a problem you notice.

Everything except the LacingI love this shoe - the shape and cushion level is absolutely perfect for me! I cannot, however, stand the lacing! No matter what I do, I cannot get it to lace in a way that is comfortable. The tongue has a lot of fabric that bunches up under the laces and causes hot spots. Attempting to skip laces makes the shoe way too loose.

Good cushion, lots of funI don't run the miles I used to - 66yrs old & recovering from broken toe. Looking for cushioned shoe that protects my feet but doesn't suck the energy from my steps. Novablast4 is perfect - comfortable ride, lots of energy keeps things fun, works well with all runs (slow, long, threshold repeats, hill repeats). Sole feels a little slippy on wet surfaces. Only oddity is shoe is about 1/2" longer than size 10 inserts I use.

Great training shoeI do probably 90% of my weekly running in this shoe, everything from easy recovery to long runs. Decent amount of cushion to keep the legs feeling good. Fairly substantial outsole allowed me to get well over 600 miles in my first pair before I felt like the midsole foam wasn't as responsive and I needed a replacement pair.

Great upgrade from Novanblast 4This is a good show for long runs. Comfortable with enough lace to lock in the heel. I’m very flat footed and this shoe offers the arch support I need for marathon training. Improved from the Nova Blast 3I have run in the Nova Blast model since the came out. Models 1 and 2 had padded tongues which they changed with model 3 and the fit was uncomfortable where the foot bends. This new model the tongue is a little longer and sits a little higher. These are like running on clouds. I only gave it 4 stars because these shoes only go for about 300 miles for me as the blast material wears far for me running in the northeast.

ASICS Novablast 4After trying every running shoe on the planet, I've been an avid Nike Pegasus girl for many years. In 2023, the Novablast 3 changed my world. I need a wide toe box and I have a high top of foot (dorsum). The Novablast just works for me. IMO, the Novablast 4 is similar to the 3, with a little more bounce. I wear the Novablasts for all training and racing (both endurance and speed). I am a 42yo female and ran my fastest half marathon in March, 2024 in the Novablast (3).

Novablast 4 - marathon trainingI wanted to stick with the Nimbus but don't like the feel of the two most recent models (25 and 26). Fortunately, the Novablast fit decently and has good cushioning for big mileage runs (20+). It seems to be about a quarter size bigger than the Nimbus, which is good and bad for me. My toes appreciate it, but I don't have the same road feel that I get in the Nimbus (24). I don't notice the spring/forward assist that others have noted. I've avoided using these for speed work but I have done some fast paced runs and they didn't hold me back. The biggest slight I have on these, especially when compared to the Nimbus, is the tongue. The Novablast tongue pushes into your ankle/shin whereas the Nimbus tongue lays against it. It's a huge difference when slipping into the shoe. That said, the Novablast are pretty comfortable to run in and will be my go to for eating up miles until Asics gets the Nimbus right again. One last note, I have been hugely disappointed with the durability of the Nimbus. I'm not even getting 200 miles (on asphalt/concrete). So far, the Novablast seem to be holding up a little better. It's not a like for like comparison though because my long runs in the Novablast have been on packed gravel as opposed to all asphalt/concrete. I'm really hoping to get closer to 300 miles out of these.. running ain't free!

Solid Everyday ShoeVery good shoe. Great wide base. Comfortable upper. Wide toe box. Great heel lockdown and support. With low socks and a high back kick, sometimes the shoe rubs my Achilles but it isn’t super painful. Just a small cut. The cushioning is average. Not too soft like a super shoe but it doesn’t feel dead. Good durability as I have over 200 miles so far and it feels the same as out the box. It is a no frills daily trainer and fits all needs except a workout specific shoe or race shoe.

Great shoesI've put about 40 miles on my novablast 4s since I got them and they quickly became my favorite shoe. Coming from a more traditional shoe with less cushion and a lower stack height I did overdo it with these initially and gave myself some tendinitis in my right knee. Took a week off and been good since, I would absolutely recommend this shoe. I did have to size up a half size from my normal size because the midfoot was too small on the 11 for me.

ClunkerI so wanted to like this shoe but I just didn’t. It has a great lockdown , no excessive rubbing or hot spots but to me it just felt so heavy , stiff and no bounce or response at all. Just felt like a board on my foot. I had to return them.

Best Novablast yetThese are a great shoe for daily training and long runs. Very soft without the mushiness that some recovery shoes have. With a lot of “recovery” or long run shoes I’ve owned, you get a really soft shoe but the mushiness takes a lot away from my pace. This isn’t the case with the Novablast 4. Loving them so far.

Forefoot Fit is The Best of ASCIS shoesThe best thing about the Novablast series is the volume and shape for the forefoot, which contrasts to the narrower fit of some of ASICS other shoes. Novablast 4 does have a firmer ride than the Novablast 3 but it's also more stable. For better cushioning on recovery runs you may want to try the Gel Nimbus series.

Novablast 4 - Feet pillowsStarted running again after not doing so for about a year and a half. I felt like the shoes that I currently had were old technology and wanted to try something new. I watched lots of YouTube videos and decided on the Novablast 4. The shoes are truly like having pillows under your feet. It takes a few runs to get used to them, but I’ve got it figured out now and love them. I highly recommend. Note- I ordered The black/graphite color and wish I had ordered a different color because these show a lot of dirt on them when jogging on dusty trails.

Great Shoe for recovery runsThese shoes have been a real game changer for me. The extra cushioning make for great runs especially the longer ones. Before this I was using a shoe with a much lower stack height and more drop and could really feel the pounding my legs were taking, but with these shoes I feel a lot less of as the shoe seems to be absorbing it much better. I also feel like I am running a bit faster in these. Fits great, I ordered 1/2 size up from my normal street shoes and the fore foot is wide so lots of room in the toe box. Overall a great shoe.

Amazing Everyday shoe - Newbie MarathonerThis shoe is the reason why I am hooked on Marathoning. This was my go to shoe in my first marathon training block. It can do it all! Has the comfort and cushion for recovery and long runs but also has the spring and energy need for tempo workouts. This shoe was a perfect first marathon race day shoe as well! Just ordered another pair for my next training block

Amazing shoe - from a newbie marathonerAbsolutely love this shoe! It became my go to shoe during my LA marathon training block. This shoe can do it all! Its comfy and cushy for those recovery runs and long runs but also has the response and spring for speed workouts. It was an amazing shoe to not only get me through my first training block but also across my first finish line. Just bought a second pair for this next training block.

A more versatile Nblast 4I have well over 100 miles on this shoe now and I am impressed with it, overall. Did it lose some magic "bounce" from the NB3 because of the eco formulation of the Blast+? I think yes, but on the other hand, the outsole is a bit improved and I think it's a better daily trainer than the 3. It is both more stable and feels more protective in general than the 3. It's certainly more comfortable, accommodating, and plush than the Novablast3. You can pick up the pace into tempo pace, pretty easily, and strides are a piece of cake. The only real downsides as I see them are the weight gain from 3 to 4 (always a bummer when a shoe gets heavier, less bouncy) AND a minor thing: the little pore spaces in the outsole just collect small rocks, pebbles, and grit and you WILL hear that once you hit concrete, asphalt or hard indoor surfaces. But the NB4 still retains its overall hold on my daily miles as my trainer of choice for the shorter stuff (under 15 miles) before the Superblast picks up the slack for the longer runs. Might even give the Nova4 TR a try, since the 3 TR is a versatile choice for those of us on trails/roads/commutes. Solid job, ASICS!

Great shoeI bounce back and forth between the novablast 4 and the gel nimbus 26. I seem to be a big quicker without putting out any extra effort in the novablast but do prefer the gel nimbus on runs over 10 kilometers for little bit of extra cushion. They look great and are easy to clean. I liked them enough to buy a second color way 1 week after my first pair came in.

Game changerI've been happily running in NB 880s and 1080s for the last few years, but wanted to change things up. A number of shoe reviews led me to try this shoe - and to me, it's a game changer. Yes, the heel seems (seemed?) huge to me initially, but the shoe is springy and super comfortable. I've got just under 50 miles in them, and I feel they have improved my pace by about 20 seconds per minute without me trying any harder. I guess longer time use will either confirm this impression or disprove it. I also still run in the 880s, I feel it's good for me feet to have different shoes in my rotation.

New favorite daily trainerI have never been an ASICS runner before. I used to always run in Hoka Mach/ Clifton/ bondi for their nice ride for daily trainers (but has blistering issues), carbon x for race day shoes, and then switched to the Nike zoom fly for my race day shoes. These are the best of both worlds. They are very responsive off of the ball/ mid foot strike (similar to the zoom fly) while still providing the cushion in the heel and mid foot (similar to the bondi/ Clifton). They are pretty light weight and I haven’t experienced issues with blistering. Will definitely be continuing to train in this shoe!

Nova Blast 4I have found the Nova Blast 4 (I use the wide version) with its extra cushioning to be a vast improvement over the GT 2000 which I had been using for a number of years. The cushioning helped accelerate my hip bursa healing process, and I am now able to run normal distances at a good pace. The single issue with Nova Blast 4 wide are some manufacturing inconsistencies in the amount of fabric on the right shoe.

Good Everyday trainerGood everyday trainer. Less stability than some but also can be used for tempo runs. Only downside for me is that these run tighter in the toe box than other asic models. I have a wide foot so I use the 2E size and it’s still a bit tight whereas other ASICS models are perfect for me in 2E.

Sadly they don’t work for meI love the way these shoes feel on my feet and the responsiveness of them however they did not work for me. After about 3 miles on three different runs my right forefoot and toes would start going numb. I have plenty of room in the toebox and the shoes are not too tight, but for some reason I could not prevent this from happening. I wanted these to work for me because the runs were awesome for the first 3 miles.

Good All Around TrainerI have been running in the Novablasts since they came out with the Novablast 2’s and this is an upgrade from the 3’s. It is highly responsive when you run and you feel like you are bouncing when you are out on your runs. They are great for recovery runs, long runs, tempos, etc. This is a shoe for the any runner. The only downside to these shoes is the toe box. It seems a little more narrow than then 3’s and caused me to get blisters within the first 50 miles of running in them. But great shoe overall!

Best overall TrainerAbsolutely love Novablast 4! I loved the 3, except the sole wore out pretty quickly. The 4's are great, lightweight yet responsive. I am currently staying away from supershoes due to foot/calf injuries and these have worked for easy runs and speedwork! Would recommend!

NOVABLAST 4I chose it based on recommendations and i didn't regret it. It was worth every cent. For running and speed training i liked using it, despite it being heavy as my pace is above 5:15. It does not impact me when doing series or fartilek training.

cushioningThe Novablast 4 men's shoe is quite an improvement for me in terms of cushioning over the GT 2000. The strain on my hamstrings is less. While there is no extra wide size, the wide (2E) has been sufficient for my foot size.

First NovablastLate to the novablast party with 4 being my first. First 2 versions some reviews had me nervous, version 3 just never got around to it. I understand there are some differences with the latest so I can only give my take on the 4. Waited to clear 100 miles on them and now at 130 I can say I’m impressed with them. It’s a big shoe , but doesn’t run that way. Stack is taller yet stable without the assistance of a plate of any kind which I like. I do enjoy my plates shoes , but like some without also. Got this as a daily trainer for mid range to longer and it performs for those duties well. Cushioned enough for easy miles and recovery , foam is responsive, eats up the daily runs and can pick up the pace a bit to end a run with some gas although I would reach for something else for uptempo and speed days. Upper is comfy and fit could be tts to slightly long, but not big by any means. I’m tts 11.5 and I did go with an 11 for this which feels good to me with some room to splay. Overall glad I decided add these to the rotation as a great daily. Not much needed to break in , but after about 20 miles they did come alive even more.

Loving these shoes at 89 milesI've put 89 miles since getting them for Christmas. Awesome shoes! Huge improvement on the Novablast 3. The NB3 felt sluggish to me and the forefoot felt like a bump I had to get over. NB4 is perfect. I'm 178-183lbs man at 5'7.

Good daily for marathon trainingOverall a great shoe to log the midweek miles in. Currently averaging 60 mi/wk on 6 days/wk and use this shoe for every midweek daily run. The toe box is a little tight on the inside of my big toe but other than that this shoe is great. Comfy enough that I feel good slipping into it every day but light and responsive enough that I don’t feel bogged down. Definitely a more plush upper than the Novablast 3

Downgrade from v3The upper remains a great fit, comfortable and fits true to size. However, the new ECO+ foam in the v4’s is significantly more firm and a big downgrade from the Novablast v3’s responsive, trampoline poppiness. Doing a side by side comparison of a newly purchased pair of v3’s next to the v4’s confirms the harsh stiffness, which after 25-ish miles aggravated my knee. Keep in mind I am an average height, lighter weight male, so the experience for a taller heavier individual could be different. This is a big disappointment. I have been a huge fan of the Novablast, owning a total of 7 pairs of the v2’s and v3’s.

Excellent traction over slippery surfacesI found the Novablast 4 to be an excellent choice for my daily training, including easy and tempo runs, and it has become my go-to shoe. Despite my initial hesitation due to concerns about the outsole's traction on wet surfaces, I decided to take a chance and order a light blue/Light Navy pair. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a smooth break-in period and provided a fun, bouncy ride with excellent traction over slippery surfaces. The cushioning is fantastic, and it makes it easy to pick up the pace. While the upper gets dirty quickly due to the color I chose, I am delighted with this purchase.

Toe shape didn't work for meI have wide forefeet/ toes and ran well over 300 miles in the Nova blast 3 in regular width, and was excited they decided to do a wide version for the 4. The toe box, even in the wide, is fairly low at the lateral side and puts downward and inward pressure there to the extent that I was getting tingling and numbness in those areas when running. The upper is nice but has no give, which contributed. These are fairly inflexible, but at this stack height that's to be expected. I do like the feel and amount of cushioning and the incorporation of the rocker works well, and they promote a nice quick turnover.

Not up to the hypeDon’t understand the hype around this shoe. Nothing special, feels firm and not that great. Probably switching back to Hoka to get a max cushion trainer.
