They're a staple in every runner's closet. If you're newer to running shoes, you can confidently start your journey here.

  • Performance TrainersPerformance Trainers

They make fast runs faster and long runs easier. Highly versatile, many are also great choices as accessible racing shoes.

  • Super ShoesSuper Shoes

The pinnacle of the pyramid, super shoes are the fastest running shoes you can buy. They're designed to race your absolute best and are the apex of running shoe technology and innovation. Often built with carbon-fiber plates and cutting-edge superfoams for the highest energy return, they're made for ultimate racing speed.

Cushioning Level

  • Cushioning level, or stack height, refers to how much shoe is between your foot and the ground. For this category, we reference the amount of cushioning below the forefoot as the heel height will be equal to or greater than the forefoot height.

Learn more about stack heights and how we measure them.

  • Barefoot

0-13mm. The Shoe generally does not have a midsole and feels like there is no cushioning. This shoe is all about feeling the ground underfoot.

  • Minimal

14-18mm. The shoe has a thin midsole that allows for a natural running experience. Racing shoes and minimalist shoes are common here. These shoes offer a feeling of being connected to the road or trail.

  • Low

19-23mm. The shoe has a slightly cushioned feel and may feature added cushioning technologies. Performance training shoes and some trail shoes are common here. These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience.

  • Medium

24-28mm. These shoes have a stack height that fall near the middle of the spectrum. The shoes in this category are verstaile and great for all types of runs and distances.

  • High

29-34mm. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. These shoes are highly protective and absorb more impact than the body.

  • Maximal

35mm plus. The shoe has an extremely thick midsole and extra cushioning. The focus is on protection and soft foam underfoot with hardly any ground feel.

Stability Level

  • Neutral Running Shoes

Neutral shoes support the foot through a normal range of arch collapse and generally do not have built-in technology to correct movement.

  • Stability Running Shoes

Stability shoes are a great option for those who overpronate or need added support. These shoes help to limit the inward rolling motion of the ankle while running or walking and assist in guiding the foot straight through the gait cycle.

  • Heel Stack

The heel stack refers to how high your heel sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Forefoot Stack

Forefoot stack refers to how high the ball of the foot sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Heel-toe Offset

Heel-toe offset (drop) is the difference in height between the heel stack and the forefoot stack. We use the number given to us by the brand.

How We Measure Shoe Fit

  • All measurements are based on Medium width.

  • Fit (width) options are Narrow - Snug - Average - Roomy - Wide.

  • Sizing (length) options are Short - True - Long. Note: fit is relative to the "average" running shoe.

  • We partner with SmartLast, a program by Heeluxe, to use advanced shoe-measuring technology, to provide objective measurements for toe box, midfoot, and heel widths as well as overall length.

My new GO-TOI am absolutely blown away by this shoe. Brooks has always been my main brand because their shoes just fit my foot well. This shoe finally hits the spot in that light-weight category where I feel Brooks has struggled historically. Not anymore. The description is accurate when it says "snug" midfoot but honestly it feels appropriate for a shoe this light and is not to the point of discomfort (even with my girthy feet) Somehow it feels very cushioned yet springy like I'm getting really good energy return. I don't know what kind of mileage to expect yet but I hope its reasonable so I can make this my main shoe for fast and slow days.

Good, Versatile ShoeGood, versatile shoe. Sadly, as the Hyperion 3 is completely different, Brooks has effectively discontinued this shoe.

Favorite lightweight trainerI’ve tried many lightweight daily trainers over the years—Kinvara, Rincon, Rebel, you name it—and the Hyperion 2 stands among my favorites. The upper is comfortably snug with just enough give. The midsole is immediately responsive for uptempo efforts yet calmly compliant for daily miles. And the outsole works fine. Biggest bonus for me: in my U.S. men’s 12, it weighs slightly *less* than my Vaporfly 3s (!).

Light and FastLove the Hyperion 2, reminds me of a traditional racing flat. Really allows me to use my mechanics and turns over smoothly. The forefoot is nice and wide which I appreciate and the laces provide a great lockdown for speed work.

Exactly What I Was Looking ForI ran in Ghosts for years. They were stable and cushioned, but they weren't very fast. When I discovered the Hyperion line, I was sold! They had the familiar feel I was used to, but were much lighter and still cushioned. I would highly recommend Hyperion 2s to anyone looking to run distance, but also improve their speed.

Best running shoe of my life.I was at a loss when another company updated my previous running shoe to something I could not run in. I called RW and got help finding this shoe. Perfect. Plenty of cushion, flexibility, and propulsion. My runs have suddenly become easy. Where have you been all my life? I have a neutral gait and big toe arthritis in both feet. These shoes are perfect.

Hopped on this train too lateGoing to be sad to see this model go. Ran in the ghosts for years, then switched to Hoka for a few years. Coming back to this for some faster runs made a world of difference. Bought a second pair while I still could, and now wishing I had stocked up several before they move on to the next thing!

Hyperion 2I have had a hard time finding a great track/interval shoe for my wide foot with a higher drop. The Hyperion 2 has good room in the toe box and midfoot, it’s quick, light and snappy. Everything you need out of a fast shoe. The upper is amazing, the laces are great, love the Achilles flare. I’ll be sure to pick up more pairs before they ruin it with the version 3.

Give it a tryI find most brooks too wide and roomy but this is a narrower fit, But pleasantly surprised. Not overly cushioned but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

New favorite shoeI love Brooks but the ghost and glycerin feel a bit too heavy and clunky for me nowadays, so I decided to try the Hyperions. These shoes are so responsive, lightweight, and cushioned all in one. They have been great for easy runs and uptempo workouts and I look forward to them being my new all around trainer.

Fast flats, far from super shoesIn the age of carbon plate super shoes designed for the longer distances (especially the marathon), these shoes harken back to the extremely light and less bouncy racing flats from circa 2010. Brooks made excellent flats like the T6 and T7 Racer back then, and while this is aesthetically similar, it doesn't feel as quick or comfy as those did. I think I'm used to flats nowadays "making" me run faster rather than "allowing" me to run faster, and these shoes are definitely the latter. They will certainly do the job as mile-to-10k race flats, but they weren't particularly inspiring for me.

Perfection for the long run(45+ years actively running. 5’6”/128lbs., midfoot striker. Running retail back in the 80s.) Honestly, for me, this model is perfect, and it starts w/ the last. Over the last year alone, I’ve tried all the current favorite, acclaimed performance trainers. But this Hyperion 2 is perfect - in fact, the most perfect fitting and performing trainer I’ve ever used - and I have 45+ yrs of wearing and selling. This Brooks last was made for my slightly wide, semi-high volume foot. The midsole is not sloppy, not overly soft, and far exceeds the longevity of others I’ve tried. The slightly asymmetrical eyelets, the knobby laces, the durable outsole (use on light trails), all make for a no-brainer for me. I mean, I even put this above my previous all-time favorite the OG Gel-lye (similar colors, actually!)

Great shoe not true to sizeThis is a great shoe, and not a bad price for what you get. My only gripe is the fit, my feet seem between sizes, size 11 feels massive and 10.5 is a bit tight on my right foot with the laces laying such that I have to be careful how I tight I get it so I don't lose circulation. Kinda surprised people are saying this shoe is true to size considering I rarely run into this with other major brands. But I will admit that I've had similar issues with Brooks shoes in the past. This one seems to be worth keeping though.

Hyp2I owned numerous pairs of the original Hyperion, using them for training and racing, and considered them fast and light. Being 0.2 oz lighter, this new version promised to be even better. The shoes fit my feet just as well as the old versions, so that was good. During my first few runs in the new version, the Hyperion 2's felt little mushy, but I quickly adapted to that and was soon training as fast (maybe faster) than in the old Hyperions. Then the next race came-- a sprint triathlon. My competition and I came out of T2 (bike-to-run transition) at the same time, and the guy sprinted way out in front of me. But the new Hyperions brought me back and I passed him within another half mile, cruised to a victory by over 2 minutes, even winning my age group. I owe it to the Hyperion 2's.

GREAT SHOE!I am a high school senior. I have ran competitively for 9 years. I have zero arches, yet this incredibly lightweight, flexible shoe manages not to hurt my feet. I use them for distance-daily trainers on fast days, and short races (5K). I would say of all the XC shoes I have ordered from Running Warehouse, these are my favorite. It is a go to shoe for several of my teammates as well ...when we do not or cannot wear spikes. 10 outta 10 recommen!

Simple, fast, and funI was a big fan of the original Hyperion Tempo when I first got into running. I went through two pairs of that shoe, but I skipped the refresh (now just the Hyperion) because, at least on paper, this shoe seemed to be succumbing to the maximalist trend most manufacturers are taking their shoes. But that really hasn't been the case. Yes, the Hyperion 2 is bit a taller than the original. But it's still a light, responsive shoe that's just a whole lot of fun to run in. The upper and fit are fantastic, and much higher quality than many other performance shoes which cost more. The Hyperion is really a standout in the Brooks lineup.

Only issue has been fixedWhen I initially got the first Hyperion, I wanted to enjoy it but felt the foam lacked the softness and response of other lightweight super foams. I also felt the shoe very stiff. With this newest update, Brooks added the “super foam” I was looking forward to while also maintaining a level of support/security without being overtly stiff. Upper is soft and comfortable. I have really no issues with this shoe. Great job Brooks!

Hyperion 270yo, Male, mostly walking with periods of 8 min tempo due to cardiac issues. History of over 50 years of running and racing. Loved the original Hyperion Tempo for tempo workouts and even some 5K racing. The V2 is NOT the same animal. It is far more plush without much of the ground feel of the the original V1. That being said, the V2 is wonderfully plush without being a max shoe. The foam is snappy and the shoe has great toe off. It is a great shoe with an actual score for me of about 4.5. It is typical modern running shoe with great fit as well for me (full D width) with a great toe box space. Would still love to see someone make a tempo shoe with a bit less stack and better road feel. Highly recommended for all types of training. PS Also a great walking shoe.

Not the same HyperionI have been running in both the Hyperion 1 and Hyperion max 1. This is a different shoe from both of those and in a good way. It has a much softer feel even though I only weigh 130. You can definitely still run fast in them. It also has a slightly wider forefoot and is just a smidge longer. I have also been a fan of the hoka Mach 5 when I wanted a softer ride but the Hyperion 2 gives me that plus a more accommodating fit. This is my new favorite everyday shoe. I doubt you’ll be disappointed

Definitely a Morphed HyperionDef not the Hyperion or Hyperion Tempo. Totally revamped w/ a 28/36 stack (according to Brooks at TRE), airy mesh and way softer midsole. I had 3 pair of the former models, and these are certainly a different animal. Great fit, decent width and volume for my slightly wide foot. The higher stack is immediately noticeable, but in a good way - not clunky. To anybody heavier than my 128 lbs., I’m sure the shoe will feel even softer - which is actually not my preference. Gotta love the 7 oz weight in a size 9 (yes, I did a weigh- in). To me, I’ve had the Rise, Mach 6, cyclone 2, altra flow on my feet the past year, and again, for my biomechanics this Hyperion is a no- brainer.
