GaviotaI am a life long runner and have rheumatoid arthritis. These are the only running shoes I can wear. They are supportive and cushioned. Please do not discontinue these shoes!

great shoeI've been running in Hoka Gaviota for a number of years and absolutely love them.

Not horrific, but mostly hype/brandingOf course I wanted to love these shoes. They're sleek-looking and very popular at the moment. They're also relatively comfortable, and I've not had any trouble walking/running in them. However, they're not well made. It's unfortunate. I've purchased 2 pairs of HOKA shoes now, and the collar lining has quickly disintegrated in both pairs. Furthermore, the outsole wears down incredibly fast. I'm going back to New Balance and Brooks. But I think my experience is probably emblematic of an ongoing battle against slipshod offshore manufacturing and lackluster quality control.

Too plushI need some cushion for my knees, and a support shoe. These are very supportive, but too plush and soft. I can imagine heavier runners would love this shoe.

Great pair of daily trainersMy first pair of real running shoes that just felt right out of the box. Just enough neutral support while running that works perfect for me, but light and smooth, easy ride. The heel drop feels lower than the 6 that it's rated at, but no issues at all with calf or knee issues for me.

Very roomyI had ordered a 10 D and they were so big in the heal and the toe box. I then ordered a 9.5 B and they were also very big. I usually where a 10 2E in New Balance shoes. I was so hope to find a pair of Hokas. I would recommend these if you had a wide heal & need a roomy toe box.

Roomy Toe boxI was hoping to find a shoes with a really roomy toe box. This fits the bill but was actually to wide in the heel. I first ordered Womens 9.5 D and had to return them because the toe box & heel was huge. I then ordered a 9.5 med & they were also roomy in toe box but huge in the heel & returned them. If they were to make it without the heel being so huge, I would try them again. I then went back to my New Balance.

I love this shoeI love walking for fitness, and before my first pair of Hokas, my feet would hurt at the end of the day after doing my usual 5-6 miles. Since I discovering the Gaviota 5, I have zero foot pain at the end of the day! This purchase is my second pair, and I will continue to buy this shoe when I need a new pair.

Hallelujah Hokas!I have been wearing Hokas for over 12 years now, and they are the best shoes I have found. I found them by accident one day at a discounted rate when my wife was picking up her marathon packet at a marathon in Cincinnati, OH. I have not worn any other athletic shoes since! I am not a runner, but I needed that comfort for my day-to-day activities, and I have never regretted the cost for this comfort! My latest go-to is the Gaviota!

Very Comfortable to wear on double shiftsI am a Clinical Laboratory Scientist her in Los Angeles with a very heavy daily workload translation I am on my feet all day. Working for 2 hospitals in one day requires a very comfortable shoes. The answer to my need is a Hoka Gavi 5( Gaviota 5). It took away the pain I experience on the top of my feet, ankle and plantar fasciitis. It is supple and the EE does the job that adidas and Nike cannot give: a wide toe box. It is worth paying additional $20.00 compared to other top brands. I also own Bondi 8s which provide the same comfort. HOKA UP!!! If you want foot pain to go away

Very comfortableI am not a runner, but work in healthcare and am on my feet all day, so I need a comfortable shoe. I typically wear Saucony Guide or Omni shoes, but have been less happy with them lately, so I when I remembered I had a pair of Gaviota's a few years ago and liked them, I decided to give them another try. There was an adjustment period due to the different feel of the arch support than what I am used to, and I was dealing with IT band syndrome during the switch (which started prior to switching, so not the shoes' fault) but now I love them. Very comfortable, and I don't come home with aching feet after a long shift.

GaviotaI ordered this shoe instead of my usual Clifton, because it looked like it had a wider toe box for my bunions, but it did not work for me. Overall they were very comfortable
3 out of 5 Stars
looser fit than same size in Clifton/RinconDon't typically use stability shoes, but tried these after a positive review by Road Trail Run which indicated they didn't 'feel' like a typical stability and more like a neutral max cushion shoe. They were ok - but didn't feel very responsive and the fit was much looser than the same size in Hoka Clifton or Rincon which I have worn for multiple years.

Major Change From Gaviota 4It's difficult to rate shoes because what works for me may not work for others. I gave this 3-stars because it is such a massive change compared to the Gaviota 4. If you liked the Gaviota 4 (I loved it), the Gaviota 5 is a major change. It feels like a Bondi with slightly more support and W-I-D-E. It is significantly wider throughout than the Gaviota 4, especially from the mid-foot forward. It literally has 1/4"+ more width in the mid-foot and toe box areas. I had to double-check to make sure I didn't mistakenly order the 2E width. Nope, it's the standard D width. The shoe also feels like it has less support from the mid-foot forward than the Gaviota 4. These are going back.

Very Comfortable ShoeVery comfortable show. It's great for running or walking, with lots of stability and cushioning. The cushioning was really nice after the flat-footed shoes I had previously. The only modification I would suggest is smoothing out the seam on the outside of each seam below the ankle area. It's noticeable on one of my feet, and I have some Nike's where there's no protrusion of the seam at all. In summary, really great shoe!
