Cushioning Level

  • Cushioning level, or stack height, refers to how much shoe is between your foot and the ground. For this category, we reference the amount of cushioning below the forefoot as the heel height will be equal to or greater than the forefoot height.

Learn more about stack heights and how we measure them.

  • Barefoot

0-13mm. The Shoe generally does not have a midsole and feels like there is no cushioning. This shoe is all about feeling the ground underfoot.

  • Minimal

14-18mm. The shoe has a thin midsole that allows for a natural running experience. Racing shoes and minimalist shoes are common here. These shoes offer a feeling of being connected to the road or trail.

  • Low

19-23mm. The shoe has a slightly cushioned feel and may feature added cushioning technologies. Performance training shoes and some trail shoes are common here. These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience.

  • Medium

24-28mm. These shoes have a stack height that fall near the middle of the spectrum. The shoes in this category are verstaile and great for all types of runs and distances.

  • High

29-34mm. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. These shoes are highly protective and absorb more impact than the body.

  • Maximal

35mm plus. The shoe has an extremely thick midsole and extra cushioning. The focus is on protection and soft foam underfoot with hardly any ground feel.

Stability Level

  • Neutral Running Shoes

Neutral shoes support the foot through a normal range of arch collapse and generally do not have built-in technology to correct movement.

  • Stability Running Shoes

Stability shoes are a great option for those who overpronate or need added support. These shoes help to limit the inward rolling motion of the ankle while running or walking and assist in guiding the foot straight through the gait cycle.

Good SlidesI run about 4-5 time every week. My feet hurt after every run i like that the slides have a lot of support which has definitely helped with recovery but they just feel to stiff for my liking they are not like walking on clouds like I've seen on many video. Still, they help a lot with recovery i would recommend but if you don't want to spend as much money look for more options but they are good slides overall.

Post race & everyday comfortI LOVE these slides. I originally bought them for post race since I run a lot of trails with water crossings and need to get out of wet sneakers after a run. However, they've become my go to for everyday, everywhere comfort, surpassing my crocs by a mile. If you don't have 'em, get 'em!

Helps with plantar fasciitis pain and recoverI’ve had painful plantar fasciitis pain in my left heel/foot for over 6 months. Did all the icing, stretching, red light…it would help a bit and then the pain would come back fierce. I had heard about Hoka shoes and their amazing cushion support to assist healing. I started with these to wear only around the house. They’ve been amazing at relieving the pain and helping the fasciitis heal! I only have a bit of pain in one spot now vs the whole heel and some of the arch, after wearing for less than a month! I really haven’t done much else but wear the sandals to cause relief. I hope to now transition into a pair of Hoka running shoes and get back into running again!:)

Compared VS Crocs, and No-name Amazon Knockofusually when it comes to name brand items, I'm always thinking to myself, 'well the cheap version is always gonna be 80% similar why spend the extra money on name brand' I bought this, the croc recovery slides (50 USD) and the amazon recommended cheapie recovery slides. The reality is, I returned the other 2 and Kept this one. I think the way this slide is designed is that it actually props you up and helps you walk after a 10 miler or a 15 miler, something about my foot causes it to cave and it feels like the center of my foot is sinking in a convex shape. This slides kind of force your foot back into a standard concave shape with the way it's designed, and the slippers themselves are very durable, I wear these indoors/outdoors and I didn't have to be overly cautious about stepping on rocks or if some kind of glass got in side if I would damage the slides. tbh I really never purchase name brand but this is worth it.

Best causal footwear I’ve ever ownedHoka has it right with these slides! Great fit and ample cushion for casual days around the house or in town. This is my second pair, and they do seem slightly more narrow and shorter than last year’s pair, but it wasn’t enough to change sizes. In fact, this pair of 10s fits better. I normally buy 10.5 running shoes for reference, leaving some room for the toes.

Best Slides YetThese are the best Hoka slides yet, and I've been through them all. Best part about them is they're designed now to help keep your feet in place, which was my biggest issue with previous models when they got a little wet. Highly recommend sizing down though, I wear 9.5-10 shoe and size 9 slides fit perfectly

Store and ProductThe store is a little difficult to find. The staff members are very helpful and knowlegable. I purchased a pair of HOKA running shoes which I love. The HOKA Ora slide got my attention because they were on sale. I didn't plan on buying the Ora Slide however my wife insisted. When I put them on I thought WOW, these are really comfortable. So, I bought the Oras. I still love the Ora Slide and wear them all the time.

Hoka ora slide 3.Bought a pair of these to replace my ten year old nike slides, Initially I found The strap to be somewhat constricting On the top of my foot, but as they broke in their feeling better. I'd recommend buying them in your true foot size as they are a bit on the big side.

Not sure what I paid premium for?I honestly cant say that when wearing these that I can see or feel any difference between these flip flops/sandals and conventional flip flops/sandals. The material also feels the same. I had previously a pair of under armor v slide sandals that were 1/3rd the price of these. For the same reasons, to wear at the beach, wear in public showers and to put on after a run. The comfort, fit and feel are very much the same (if anything, the HOKA's are a bit more loosey goosey which is a negative). Im hoping that perhaps the significant extra cost in the HOKA's is because perhaps they are a lot more durable and will last a lot longer. But at this point, thats my hope and also speculation. But even if thats the case, what I paid for in the HOKA model could have purchased 3 pair of what I had before. So, will this model exceed what 3 pair of my previous model gave me? These are definitely better than the 4 to 6 dollar drug store flip flops, but unnoticeable difference with 20 dollar models.

UncomfortableI had Oofos sandals before that was comfortable and soft to wear and thought this Hoka would be the same. I’ve purchased Hoka Clifton series running shoes here at RW before and they felt good and decided to try the sandals. It’s just ok compared to OOFOS.

HOKA Ora Slide 3 Unisex Grey M11.0/W13.0Purchased a pair, but chose to return them. I think it's a great product, but they seemed to run a little big. I wear a 12 in regular running shoes made by Hoka and I intentionally ordered an 11, but still too loose.

Big improvement over previous versionsI had to size down from 11 (in older versions) to 10 in this version. The foam is a bit firmer than in previous versions, making it feel more supportive and safer to walk in - no slipping around within the foot bed. The exterior surfaces are smoother making it easier to wipe clean.

Great sandalI don't think they're as comfortable on step as the ora recovery slide 2, but the part that goes over your foot feels softer and wider. I didn't have to size up for these, so if you have a wide foot I'd go with these over version 2. They also don't make a squeaky noise while walking
