Learn more about stack heights and how we measure them.

  • Minimal

14-18mm. The shoe has a thin midsole that allows for a natural running experience. Racing shoes and minimalist shoes are common here. These shoes offer a feeling of being connected to the road or trail.

  • Low

19-23mm. The shoe has a slightly cushioned feel and may feature added cushioning technologies. Performance training shoes and some trail shoes are common here. These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience.

  • Medium

24-28mm. These shoes have a stack height that falls near the middle of the spectrum. The shoes in this category are versatile and great for all types of runs and distances.

  • High

29-34mm. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. These shoes are highly protective and absorb more impact than the body.

  • Maximal

35mm plus. The shoe has an extremely thick midsole and extra cushioning. The focus is on protection and soft foam underfoot with hardly any ground feel.

Stability Level

  • Neutral Running Shoes

Neutral shoes support the foot through a normal range of arch collapse and generally do not have built-in technology to correct movement.

  • Stability Running Shoes

Stability shoes are a great option for those who overpronate or need added support. These shoes help to limit the inward rolling motion of the ankle while running or walking and assist in guiding the foot straight through the gait cycle.

SkyflowI recently traveled twice in the last 6 months to Canada and Alaska. Both times I wore my Skyflows on a cruise ship and walking around the city of Quebec. My legs and feet were never tired after long days of activities. These are a great addition to your travel wardrobe as they lite to pack and have high cushioning to help keep you energized all day.

Hoka SkyflowThese tennis shoes are exceptionally comfortable for people with sensitive feet.

Mid shoes, not great, not bad.I really liked these shoes at first but the more I wore them the more I disliked them. As I wore them down I realized that they were squeezing my foot more and more. The sidewall foam is just too tall and they just create a little cavern down where your foot sits that just is bad…

Switched from CliftonsMy go to daily runner was the Clifton model…been wearing them since v4. Unfortunately Hoka decided they were going to change the drop from -5 to -8 in the Clifton. I noticed a difference. After talking with a pro from Fleet Feet, they advised that the Skyflow was a drop 5 and was seeing converts of the Clifton over to the Skyflow due to the drop. Thought I would give it a shot. Over 300 miles in the first pair of Skyflow and very very satisfied. Been great for short or longer runs. Still probably another 100 miles or so in this pair, but ordering another. Definitely would recommend.

Hoka SkyflowGreat shoe! My only complaint is the outsole tends to wear fast. My favorite shoe to run in right now!

Great shoe, but just too heavy for me.I purchased this shoe for my long runs. Being a marathon runner, I spend a lot of time doing long slow runs. I liked ALMOST everything about the Hoka Skyflow... great padding, nice look, very comfortable. Unfortunately, I found the weight of 8.9 oz to be noticeable and just too much for me, as I am used to the Saucony Speed which is 7.4 oz. It doesn't seem like much of a weight difference, but I could feel it. If they could shave the weight down a bit and still maintain even 3/4 of the padding, it would be a winner!

Excellent Daily - Should get more attention300 miles on these, and still feel great. When I first ran in these after the Topo Atmos, I was very pleasantly surprised at the rebound that I hadn't felt from the Atmos. These are a definite "middle" between a plush recovery, and a speedier shoe like the Mach 6 or Rebel v4. They feel supportive and stable without wallowing, and they have some spring and bounce. The toebox was a bit snug on one side, but I found a "shoe-stretcher" helped with that. Wishlist; that they would be lighter. Regardless, I really like them, and plan on at least another hundred or more miles. No apparent wear anywhere, except a bit on the heel. I run midfoot. I have the Noosa Tri 16 for faster sessions, but these work for daily/recovery. I do think they deserve more attention.

Cushioned Road MilesExactly what I was hoping for, which was a well cushioned road shoe for the majority of my easy runs and general long runs. Fit true to size for me with a comfortably snug midfoot- I have an average width foot. This shoe rounds out my running needs nicely as I complement it with the Saucony Endorphin Speeds for my tempo/faster sessions or up paced long runs. I’m surprised I haven’t heard more buzz around this shoe.

great shoe. too longThis one disappears on foot. Breaks in around 20-30 miles. Using it for easy miles and it holds up great during strides too. I have a narrow foot so I almost love the fit it just seems quite a bit longer than a usual 9.5.

Cushy and lightBought them for my wife She uses them for recovery runs. Even though they are only 4 oz lighter than the Bondis, it feels a lot lighter. Definitely not for speed work, but very comfortable for longer stuff.
