Product Details:

The ‘Goat is back for round 6, and the HOKA Speedgoat 6 aims to be THE trail running shoe for everyone and any trail. It’s the quintessential HOKA experience of high levels of cushioning and confidence-inspiring traction and has the versatility to meet the needs of trail runners, hikers, and ultramarathon athletes.

Bearing the nickname of world-renowned ultrarunner Karl Meltzer, this perennial bestseller continues the proud legacy of its family line. The Speedgoat has always bundled a thick layer of foam and stellar outsole grip in a surprisingly lightweight package, and that formula has now been tweaked to be even more capable. So what’s new? The refined CMEVA midsole foam compound is tuned to give an even more nimble feel, while the updated internal chassis hugs your foot securely for added stability on rough terrain.

Linking you to the earth, the outsole features a revised lug orientation inspired by... a goat’s hoof, of course! Rest assured that the outsole retains its superb Vibram Megagrip rubber with Traction Lug technology, but the lug shape has been optimized with micro-serrations to increase surface area, traction, and stability. Matching the shoe connection to the ground, the new durable woven mesh upper secures the runner into the shoe while sporting a faster drying and lighter weight construction. A plusher lay-flat dual-gusseted tongue and heel loop pull are finishing touches that add to the shoe's refinement and all day comfort.

Altogether, the Speedgoat 6 comes in slightly lighter weight than version 5 and is beyond ready to be your trusted, highly cushioned, confidence-inducing companion for all your daily miles and adventures.

  • MetaRocker geometry is found in all HOKA shoes for an easy, efficient, forward roll.
  • Active Foot Frame engineering is also in all HOKA shoes, to cradle your foot securely and comfortably like a sports car bucket seat.

UPPER

  • Dynamic sandwich mesh textile is vegan, contains recycled material, recycled polyester laces, and overall retains less water, weighs less, and maintains enduring comfort.

Love theseIf you're looking for a supportive shoe with strong tread for slippery conditions, this shoe is great! Works well transitioning from clay based soils to rock hopping along creek beds to running roads to get to your next trail.

Going the distanceI simply love this shoe! Definitely my go to for easy runs and also long races. Comfortable on the feet and don’t slip around. Traction is great in all surfaces and holds its own on the pavement sections.

BruisersLoved training in them on short under 30k runs on smooth trails. However, if they are worn on anything technical or when hitting the long distances such as the 100m they have resulted in horrific damage to my ankles. No matter how they were laced or how thick the socks were nothing could improve them. The hard plastic cup in the shoe is awful. After going thru every single prior version of SG’s this is the end of the show.

Not like they used to beI would’ve worn version 4 forever and ever. Versions 5 and 6 make my feet hurt, so I’m moving on.

Running in Speedgoats for yearsI am an ultra runner and put many hours and miles on every pair of speedgoats I purchase. I appreciate the "wide" size option and will continue to run in Hoka's. I have tried other shoes and do not get the same comfort as the Speedgoat.

Good shoe but changedI have had 7 pairs of these over several years. Entry can be challenging, the tongue has changed. Still a good trail shoe.

Lightweight and responsiveI’m not a huge trial winner so I was looking for something comfortable to rent and hike. Speed goats are very lightweight and supportive!

Wanted to try them.I have been wanting to try this shoe for a long time. I run in Altra Loan Peaks and have been for years. These felt like my foot was busting out of them. I was going to try running a few times to see if they stretched out a bit but ended up sending back new in box instead. Great looking shoe tho!

Tongue IssueI have worn Hokas for years as an ultrarunner and was excited to get this newest version. I find everything about them great except the tongue is too short and too thin. On my pair, the laces end up on the top of my foot instead of on the tongue...too short. It also has a tendency to roll under itself...too thin. Fix this and you have a winner in my book!

Widely reveredI have a wide foot, and it’s almost impossible to find a shoe that fits. This one does, right out of the gate. It literally hugs my feet. I couldn’t be happier with a pair of shoes.

Not What They Used To BeAfter the terrible upper of version 5, thankfully Hoka fixed the upper to be secure without restricting. However, the midsole is substantially firmer, making for a less comfortable ride, especially for longer endurance runs. The heel is a little loose, so it’s hard to get a great lockdown. While it’s an improvement from the last model, it’s still a step down from Version 4. I’ve always suggested Speedgoats for the midsole, but I can’t recommend them as highly with the now stiffer foam.

HOKA Speedgoat 6 Men's ShoesI love the Speedgoat 6. I use them for trail running and backpacking. Great traction and durability. They set you close enough to the ground to really feel the trail while providing great cushioning, at the same time. This is my 5th pair of Speedgoats and definitely my favorite.

DisappointedThis may be a quality shoe however it's not what I'm looking for. I loved the Speedgoat 5s and was hoping for a few minor adjustments. Unfortunately that's not the case and the changes are so drastic it feels like a completely different shoe. From what I've read it sounds like the 6th version is more similar to the 3rd and 4th versions.

Big Guy ReviewAs a heavier gent I tend to put more stress on my feet than most. I have gone through shoes left and right for running, hiking and just daily activity. Upon recommendation I picked these bad boys up and it was the best decision yet. Being 6'1 270 they have saved my knees and stress on my feet. 10/10 would buy another pair soon.

Great shoe with one flawI have run on the Speedgoat for many years since the Speedgoat 2. This version fits well and rides great. The sole has a more responsive feel to it than the 5 and I love everything else about it except for the heel. For some reason the heel is has a bit more cushion and rides a little higher than the 5. I tend to have Achilles issues off and on and the pressure from this part of the shoe just doesn't work for me. If it wasn't for this, I would have given it a 5 out of 5! If this shoe was just made for me I would give it a 0, because I can't wear it. I think for most people it's a great shoe so I don't want to drive the ratings down because I have Achilles issues; if you fall in to this category, you may want to look elsewhere.

Made My First Trail Race a Dream!I only had two weeks before our race so I was nervous I wouldn't be able to "break them in" before race day. Quite the opposite, they felt amazing out of the box and I absolutely love the support and traction.

Better than the 5Definitely an upgrade from the 5. The ride is great but the lockdown still needs improvement. The tongue is too short making the extra lace eyelet useless. For my foot shape the extra eyelet is absolutely necessary for lockdown on technical terrain. Hopefully they fix this on the next version.

Midsole is too hardI've been wearing Speedgoats since version 3. I can not wear this new version because the midsole is too hard and not flexible. I've tried different orthotics and nothing works from my feet feeling pain. I can't even hike 3 miles before my feet start to ache. I love the new uppers, finally Hoka has designed a shoe for wide feet. Now, fix the midsoles, go back to 4mm heel to toe drop, keep the uppers and it would be perfect.

I appreciate the wide shoe optionI wear the speedboat because it fits! The 6 has excellent grip on wet, steep, technical terrain. I appreciate the higher stack height and the slightly higher drop from heel to toe on the new version. The 6 fits differently than the 5, so don't assume that you can re-order the same size.

HoKa TrailLove Hoka but these speed goat 6 seem a little bulky and heavy compared to previous Hoka trail shoes. I still like them and would recommend to others, it's just takes alittle time to get use to the shoe.

GREAT EXPERIENCE !I was looking for the best trail running shoe and boy did I ever find them! Running Warehouse was my answer, I purchased the Hoka speedgoat 6 , took them for a test run on the most gnarly trails I know of(my favorite) running thru wet ravines, wet rocks, and logs, and NEVER slipped once ! I highly recommend the speedgoat 6 as it has to be the most reliable shoe for trail running I have ever owned!! Thank you Running Warehouse and Hoka for this “GREAT EXPERIENCE,”!

Trail Running Shoe For Fitness EnthusiastsThe HOKA Speedgoat 5 and Speedgoat 6 are my go-to shoes when I hit the trails and prairie path systems here in Illinois. The great fit and running comfort are the reasons I continually buy the Speedgoat shoe.

The G.O.A.T. of the goatsBest version yet. Don't understand all the complaints. If you want mush for midsole, buy the Mafate Speed 4 or Zoom X Nikes. If you're a serious trail runner or mountaineer, and want a precise, nimble fit with excellent lockdown and traction, these are for you. More responsive than prior models and the platform is narrower. Toe box more forgiving. I had switched to Altras for 2 years because I got sick of Hokas narrow toe boxes but Altras just aint the same and the tox box of these is excellent. If you find these too firm, you're likely not running on terrain that justifies buying these because if you did, you'd find these plenty cush or you have some dainty, sensitive feet. Switching back to Hokas for good!

Improved, but needs bigger toeboxI've used many pairs of Speedgoats since they were introduced. This iteration is the best yet. The new upper really is less stretchy and the midfoot really is more snug ( at first, almost too snug). I'd really like to see the toebox made wider, because my big toe still rubs on long downhills. Because of that, only 4 stars.

Finally! After multiple Hoka hiking and running shoes, I finally found a shoe that fits. I have a very narrow foot and some weird fit challenges, including several screws and silicone toe joint. The lacing pattern giving a tighter mid foot is a welcome change. Love the semi rigid sole too.

Solid trail shoe!So far I have 75 miles on these shoes and I’m pretty happy with them. I put 600 miles on the SG4, skipped the 5 and bought the 6. I preferred the tongue on the SG4 to the this version. This version has a padded tongue that is a touch too short for me. Doesn’t result in any irritation but I preferred the other version. I think this version is slightly larger in fit than the 4. I bought an 11E (everyday shoe 10.5D)., which is what I had in the 4 and it was perfect. Initially, I found it to be tight out of the box but it has loosened up a bit and I do have some movement in the shoe now. TBD on how the shoe holds up but overall I’m still really happy with it.
