Overview
Favorited by the top performing marathoners all over the world, Maurten Gel 100 combines nutrition and science to create one of the most efficient energy gels available. Once digested, the acidity of your stomach transforms the mix into a hydrogel which encapsulates a high amount of carbs and transports them to be effectively absorbed within your intestines resulting in hydration and energy. With only 6 simple and natural ingredients, the flavor is neutral and GI distress is avoided since the gel is not broken down in your stomach. This gel should be consumed before, during, or after your runs.

My New Go 2 GelI've been running Marathons and Ultras for years and like most athletes my metabolism and tastes have changed. I've used jut about every gel on the market with mixed results. Maurtens have been the best by far.
They go down much easier with little to no liquid and are entirely compatible with solid foods from aid stations. I don't use much caffeine these days so I can't comment on the caffeinated version but the regular 100 is now my go to gel. They may be a little more expensive then other products but it's money well spent when you are able to take in calories without the dreaded gut bonk that we all know and hate.
Very happy to see that they will be available at the Melbourne Marathon later this year.
Good for Before hard sessions. You need a little bit of water to take with this product. It digests very easily before workouts with a sip of water. However, I wouldn’t take it in the middle of a long run. It is slightly thicker and doesn’t go down as easy if you don’t have water with you. I would stick with a thinner gel for this situation.
Rocket FuelA friend recommended Maurten to me right before Boston and I've never looked back. The gels go down easy even when running fast and are very light on the gut and you feel the energy instantly which is crucial in the marathon

Comments: I bought three boxes used "Buy 2 save 20% Buy 3 Save 30%" deal. I received the shipment today (2021 April 23). These GELs are best before 2021 Aug 17. I understood now why they are marked down, but I hope I would know this when I made the decision to buy three boxes.

Comments: Maurten gels are like slightly sweetened jello. I use the non-caffeinated one and it's so clean and fresh that it's like taking a drink of water. They are extremely expensive but with the water fountains on the trail turned off due to Covid-19, I have been using them instead of traditional gels which all need water to get that super sugary film washed out of my mouth. That is not the case with Maurten. It's truly remarkable.

Comments: With no races to run this spring, I've been trying out different gels and energy drinks. This has been my favorite so far. The taste is barely there, and ever so slightly sweet. The texture is like very loose jello so it is easy to swallow. The effect was noticeable with very little fatigue in miles 16-18.

Comments: I like the taste/consistency. The flavor is fairly neutral, which I prefer, as opposed to flavored gels. Yes, it is pricy, but it seems to work. I agree with the other commenter that 1 every 15 minutes is excessive. I recently ran a 20 miler and consumed just 2.

Comments: Nonsense. This is simple marketing 101, offer a product at a higher price point, and consumers will believe it must be better. It's not.

Comments: This gel works! I've been using it for a couple of months now and I really like the consistency and simple syrup taste to it. You can chew this gel some and it goes down easy. I haven't had any stomach issues using it. They say you can use 4 of these an hour but I haven't been using them that often. I do one every 5 miles. It is pricey compared to other gels but there isn't anything else like it on the market. I like the drink mix too but since I'm not elite to get my own bottle on course and I don't race with a handheld or belt the gel is my go-to fuel choice.
