New balance fan!I’ve been a Hoka One One devotee for over 15 years. I’m a 63 yr old female runner, who takes extra care of my knees, back and feet. Someone at fleet feet recommended I try the New Balance super comps. I am now on my 4th pair and will never go back! I love them and have recommended them to all of my runner friends!

Beware if you have plantar fasciitis....I've loved every version of this shoe except this one! For some reason this version has caused my plantar fasciitis to flare up and it's not been fun trying to work through it.

First Carbon Plates Shoes!!!New Balance to me is the absolute best! They are the only shoe that offers these “super” shoes in a wide! The shoe in itself is extremely comfortable and has some serious pop to it! I loved these shoes so much I ended up getting the Elite Version from Running warehouse as well! Looking to getting the 1080v14 and Pacer(only if it has a different color).

Lighter and fasterThe shoe compares to the other ones pretty well. I ran in the v1 and the v2. These ones definitely tilt you forward more. Great cushion. They feel lighter.

Step BackwardsI was a big fan of v1 and v2 of this shoe. This version feels weirdly firm for having such soft foam. The ride doesn't feel as smooth as previous versions either. I'll continue to use these for uptempo runs, but not a daily trainer like I did the previous versions of the shoe.

Gets The Job DoneThese are the first New Balance max cushion shoes I’ve purchased and I can honestly say that I wasn’t blown away by them. They deliver on everything they offer with a great amount of cushion and some solid responsiveness, but in my own experience they’re not any better than some other options out there from Adidas, Hoka, or Nike.

Great responsivenessI used to wear the Saucony Endorphin Shift and was looking for a replacement since that shoe was discontinued, so I tried these. I have about 75 miles on them now. I like them even better than my old shoe! They are pretty light, for having a lot of cushion. The cushion is very responsive, and not mushy or too soft. I would consider using these as a race shoe for long distances in addition to everyday training. It’s really just right. I have arthritis in both knees and these shoes help to make running bearable. I will be sticking with this model.

Solid TrainerThis is a great training shoe- one that you could use on race day as well. There was a break in period for me- my feet hurt on sides- but I could feel the spring on the forefront that was amazing. I purchased men’s due to the width factor- I need to pull the laces tight for secure fit up top of foot. I have it less stars only due to the break in period for me.

Versatile ShoeI’ve really enjoyed this show so far. I’ve taken it for long runs, tempo runs, & some speed work (on the roads) and loved it for all types of running. The foam is responsive yet cushioned, and the plate isn’t too overbearing.

Firm and fastI like this shoe as a nice alternative to the squishiness of the supercomp elite. For me each has their place, but this shoe felt fast with a slightly better ground feel than some other super shoes.

Game ChangersSmooth ride while running. Max cushioning and bounce that doesn't leave my feet sore after 10+ mile run. I actually feel like I can run more even if my legs are wiped out. These were meant for long distance running. I normally train in Brooks Ghost Max but these had more cushioning. Also, when my achilles was inflamed after a particularly tough speed workout, these shoes were the only ones I could wear for easy runs that didn't aggravate my achilles because of the rocker feature.

Heavy runnerI'm a heavy runner. 6'2 275lbs. Lots of reviewers didn't like this shoe bc it was too firm. If you weigh more than 160lbs you'll have no problem with firmness. I love this shoe. I did get the wide version and it fits very well. Maybe a lil too wide but I like it. The shoe is very squishy but not mushy. The plate does give it some bounce which is nice. I'd say this was the best supercomp but version 1 was just way more bouncier and funner to run in. This is definitely a close 2nd though. I really love this shoe and big guys will love it too.

NB Supercomp Trainer V3This is my second pair of of NB SC Trainers. I had the V2 previously and love the V3 as much, if not more. They are perfect for a nice long run, with enough bounce to feel good for some marathon-half marathon pace miles in there. I do think they are a little heavy for faster work, but are my go-to for a run when I want that extra cushion with the plate.

Odd fitting shoeThis shoe didn’t fit like any New Balance shoe I have previously enjoyed. It was super snug in the mid foot. While the toe box was accomadating width-wise, it was very low. This cause the top of the shoe to rub on top of toes, something I’ve never experienced in a shoe. This shoe feels ok for short runs but is irritating on long runs (which was my intended use for them). Side note: if you are not a fan of super soft foams these are not for you. But that is personal preference.

Really great feeling Super TrainerI wanted to try the V3's but I really liked my V2's and after I couldn't find them anywhere I went for the V3's. I'm glad I did. This is a really comfortable shoe and very versatile for me. I'm currently at about 50-60 miles per week. My marathon pace should be around 7:30 to 7:45. I'm running 7 days per week and do 3-4 of my runs in the V3. I did a track workout in it the other day and if felt great. And of course my long runs feel great as well. It is a bit firmer than the V2 with a slightly wider platform. At first, I wasn't sure about the uptick in firmness, but now I appreciate it much more and feel that it suits some fast paces better. I interchange this shoe with the rebel v4 and still the SCv2 (for easy recoveries). I'm no pro shoe reviewer, but I would recommend this shoe for sure.

A new and improved update from v2Even though many liked the v2 better, and I thought I was one of them, but I have grown to like this shoe the more I ran in them. They are a bit firm out of the box a d might not feel as exiting as the v2, but it gets better and better the more you run in them, it’s like fine wine. The size is pretty snug so if you have wider feet consider half a side up, for me it fitted perfectly. The wider base makes it significantly more stable and comfortable, the upper is way better than the v2, and it overall feels like a more premium shoe. Plus they look AWESOME! They dont feel like a true speed shoe, but instead can do a little bit of everything, very versatile. I ran hill repeats and long runs and even tempo runs in them and they felt great, so it is a great optional if you want something cushioned and comfortable for daily uptempo trainers.

Version 3 is the best yet!Version 3 design changes make this version far superior to the great version 2. Fit is true to size. Improved tongue design provides more comfort and does not slide as previous model. Version 3 responsiveness is very similar to the elite model. Great shoe.

Third Times A CharmReviewer Profile: 196 lbs wide, flat feet, pronator (right foot worse than left, instability in foot, not hips). When the first iteration of the New Balance SC Trainer was released, I was excited to say the least. The soft, over stacked midsole was attractive but for a flat-footed overpronator, I was skeptical. Needless to say, Version 1 was a hit for me and due to my gait, I was able to squeeze out about 300 plus miles on them. Enter Version 2. A fan to say the least, but I found myself reaching for it less and less. The Fuel Cell midsole was not as soft, but the lower stack made it feel a little more reckless and fast. Still, I found that for me it was less stable and I was focusing more and more on form and did not enjoy the run as much. It did away with the V1 upper and went to a more traditional upper with way more structure. When Version 3 was brought to the surface I was hoping for a nice blend of the comfort I got from the first version with the recklessness of the second version, with a more stable platform. New Balance nailed it! The midsole is soft yet snappy, the upper is super comfortable and the PhantomFit technology really helps get a secure lockdown. The wider platform makes the shoe inherently more stable than the previous version and I found that my pronation is less of an issue with V3 then it was with V2. I have done a total of 6 runs in the New Balance SC Trainer V3 totaling 46.33 miles for an average of 7.72 miles per run with a long run of 10.25 miles. I feel myself moving faster in this shoe that most other daily trainers (especially stability shoes) without effort or fatigue. The New Balance SC Trainer V3 has been a welcomed update from V2 and each run has been better than the last. I know that as the new Fuel Cell compound breaks in that it will be even more comfortable and responsive than it already is. This shoe fits into my rotation for longer runs (8 plus miles), and runs that include some up-tempo work. Do I love it? Yes. Is it better for me that V2? Absolutely. Do I love it as much as V1? It is trending in that direction. Well done New Balance.

It depends. This shoe collar rubs under my ankle bone. This happens to me on other shoes occasionally, so you may be fine. I weigh 145 lbs so not sinking in too much. Last year's Rebel v3 fits fine, so I think they changed the cut a little.

Give it A ChanceAt first the shoe is very firm, you really have to give it 30-40 miles. It will soften up and be a great daily trainer/ long run shoe. I don’t use it for any up tempo runs find it doesn’t give enough energy return for that. The forefoot reminds me of the ASICS Superblast. I’m not saying it is the same shoe but the foam under the fore foot reminds me of the same firm but forgiving forefoot feeling. Overall it is a great shoe for daily miles and long run efforts.

Not for meI’ve been purchasing New Balance shoes lately due to the soft and bouncy ride I get from them. But this trainer v3 is just way too stiff and ridged for me. Feels I have a board under my feet. Worse feeling shoe I have bought in many years. I just purchased the new Balos V1. It’s a totally amazing shoe that is soft feeling but also has a good rocket and a bouncy ride. Balos V1 running shoe of the year for me.

Nice shoeThese shoes felt great on feet when first put on. As I wore them more around the house the cushion was amazing however for my feet they started to have painful spots. I would still highly encourage anyone doing distance runs to give them a try. They may be perfect for you.

Pretty nifty but size up!I went in on these since the 2 was so great. I saw that the design was completely different but in line with the 2024 lineup as a whole. I jumped on it on release. The good: GREAT foam, energy without slop, touch of stability. Really have to figure out and maintain a certain sweet spot to get the max out of foam/plate/rocker outsole. Uppers ok. Lockdown is ok. Heel is really good. Not so good: this runs short. I recommend a 1/2 to full size up. That’s my only issue. I could really feel it at the ends of my big toes towards the end of my run. It’s not a whole deal breaker but has me reaching for other shoes All in all. Size up or wait until this goes on sale. 2. Snag the V2 now while you can (clearance)

Love themOverall, these are great daily trainers for me. Being 210lbs I like the stability and ride of these shoes when compared to squishier/bouncier foams like their previous versions of SC Elite & Rebel V2. They are a much different ride and probably less exciting for most people, but for me, I prefer these. They also just look amazing!

Easy transition from v2 to v3After finding a shoe that I really like, NB SuperComp Trainer v2, I’m always a bit worried about the fit and function when they roll out a new revision. I am happy to say that I made the switch with zero issues. The v3 has the same roomy toe box, same spring or bounce in my step when I get up to speed, and same size/fit as the v3. It is my daily trainer and marathon racer.

Such a shame...I waited with high anticipation, like most people, for the SC3 release. The colorway is banging, and I love the look of the shoe. Finally got them on my feet and set out for my long run for the weekend as part of my NYC Marathon training block. I'll spare the full details, but 8 miles later one toe was bloodied, and my feet were in real pain. I'm sure that the shoe works really well for a lot of people, just not me. I didn't get the return from the plate, or a soft ride. It was too rigid for me which left my feet aching for days afterwards. Although the shoe didn't meet expectations, the RW staff were awesome in working an exchange. I think if this shoe works for you, it'll be love at first run. As for me, I'm looking for softer shoes in the sea.

The Long Shoe I NeededI have been seeking a more stable long run training shoe for my fall marathon. My first run was delightful, perfect lock, faster than I thought, super comfortable. Recovery was faster than other trainers I use, probably because of the plate. The plate itself is barely noticeable. So it actually feels like a real trainer instead of a super-shoe. It does remind me quite a bit of the Boston 12 wide, but a tad heavier. I have a single E width foot, and can often wear normal shoes if the toe box is roomy. In the case of the SC I needed to return and get the wide. It fits like a charm. Highly recommend this for anyone looking to add a rotation shoe that chews up miles on long runs or execute longer intervals in a 10 mile-ish workout.

????????I bought the Fuel Cell Rebel V4 and returned them, then tried these. Fuel Cell Rebel was ENORMOUS on me, I mean it was 3/4” too wide! And this shoe, the Trainer, fit in width, the length was too small in my normal size and half size up was too big, HOWEVER—the depth of the shoe at the toe was extremely way too shallow, and to explain that a little more, this shoe was pushing pressure down on my toenails. This shoe is very planted and stable. Rebel is very cushioned and bouncy. I can’t wear either of these shoes because both had weird fit issues and aside from the width issue of one and the depth issue of the other, they both had the problem of my normal size 7 was not my right size, but the next half size also didn’t fit.

Runs SmallThis version runs at least a half size smaller than previous version. Fit is more like the Rebel which I didn't care for at all. A mile into the run I wanted to rip them off. The shoe felt insanely stiff and not nearly as responsive as previous versions. The colorway was very nice, so I'll give them credit for that. I was very excited about this shoe and usually love NB, but this one is a huge miss for me.
