Favorite trainerI'm a 70mpw male (150lb) for reference. I took these for a 16M run on the road straight out of the box. I loved how they felt but was doubtful about how well they would hold up--particularly the outsole. The shoes now have 150 miles on them and I can only begin to see wear on the outside edge (I am a supinator) of the outsole, and only when I look carefully. In my opinion, the CS is great for easy runs and uptempo long runs that approach marathon pace (owing to generous cushioning and a lighter weight). They would be fine for tempo runs, too, but don't have the snap that dedicated tempo shoes provide. I'm seriously considering these for a mountain trail 100K.

Great!!Read some mixed reviews on these but I love them! Not a runner, just for day to day walking but they’re light and bouncy, really comfortable.

Not worth the priceI was excited to try these. I have only worn them a few times and they squeak when I walk. There is also a dented area which looks strange. They are cushioned well but have no stability when walking so your feet and legs get tired if you stand or walk very long. These are definitely not worth the price tag.

Okay daily trainer for shorter mileageThese shoes were very exciting at first, but after 200 miles I’ve come to realize they’re not as great as I initially thought. They are okay for daily miles but once I hit 8-10+ miles I am always starting to ache. Ankles, knees, hips, things start to hurt after I hit the 8ish mile mark of a run. I’ll continue to run them through their lifespan for shorter stuff but am having to switch them for another shoe when I hit my medium long runs.

Meh...Lacks IdentityToo firm to be a long-distance trainer, not enough energy return for an uptempo or speed day shoe, so not really sure what its purpose is. At best, probably best for shorter recovery runs, but at the price point, I'd definitely look elsewhere.

Returned after 7 mile runThe shoe was firmer and more unstable than I expected. I bought this after getting the On CloudMonster. After reading all the reviews I could find online, I thought the cloud surfer would be perfect in the rotation. I was very disappointed. It might have something to do with my fitness as well. Giving 3 stars for now. I’ll try again when I’m back to my racing weight. It is possible that my experience was affected by fitness level. Right now, I’m using maximalist shoes to help offset my heavier than normal frame. This shoe definitely does not compare to the CloudMonster.

Better for walkingBought into the hype. They’re not bad, but not great either. I enjoy the squishiness they provide but there isn’t any feeling of support. I’ll stick to Saucony Triumphs for cushion shoes in the future. With that said, they are SUPER comfortable as every day walking shoes. I wear them frequently out of the house for errands. Just not a fan of running in them.

Love these!Love this style of ON’s. They are very light weight, and have a very cushiony feel to them. I also love the look of them. These are the only shoes Ive found that compare to my Hoka’s.

On has been listeningI used to wear the On Cloud for walking, casual and especially traveling. The first On shoe I enjoyed for running was the Cloudmonster, which I wore through a training block, but did not replace with same. Yesterday I received the new Cloudsurfer which is replacing my Nimbus25’s. They are much lighter, less clumsy and more nimble than all the other cushion-oriented candidates I tried, making them quite versatile. As others are commenting they wouldn’t be my top choice for speedwork but they do nicely for some picking up of pace. My use case for these is primarily easy, recovery and hopefully some long relaxed runs. As usual for On, the uppers are attractive and well built; for my average volume foot they lock down nicely and run true to size. The midsole geometry features a non-rigid roll which works for my biomechanics. They are flexible and there is enough ground sensation (some of which I like to have) but well balanced with a full sense of protection and cushion at the same time. This is hard combination to find in one training shoe, especially one that is as light as my race shoes! You needn’t fear outsole rock-collecting. Even with the Cloudmonster I never had that issue even on dirt and gravel, as the midsole was redesigned. Now with this model there is even less debris after runs than in some of my other brand shoes. It is the softest shoe in my rotation and while it has less rebound than (eg) my NovaBlast3, Endo Speed 2 and Hyperion Max, it is a welcome relief when my feet crave a soft but by no means mushy or energy-sapping midsole.

Almost perfectAlmost exceeded expectations I've owned many different styles of ON footwear and have enjoyed each but for different reasons. The Cloud Surfer is the first model that captured all but one of the best elements from multiple models and combined them into a winner. From a design standpoint, rotating the angle of the pods makes a huge difference. Rather than dispersing shock vertically, the raised pods propel you forward. Weight is great and comfort is off the charts. Traditionally, I would buy a more motion controlled model, but in this instance, I replaced the sockliner with a pair of orange Superfeet which allowed me to have enhanced arch support and extreme comfort... the best of both worlds. The stock sockliner was a complete joke. At the $160.00 price point, my minimum expectation would have been an ortholite sockliner. My rating would have dropped a complete star if I had not replaced it. Cosmetics are great but you do have to make some lacing adjustments to lock down the tongue overlay lace keeper to keep it from getting snagged. Overall, a solid purchase and something I would recommend. Ed Wholley - ME, United States June 04, 2023

Close to greatLove the cloudmonster, and with just a little more stack height, this could have been about perfect. Very light, snug but true to size, well cushioned and more propulsive than the monster. On is finally starting to make honest to goodness running shoes…

DisappointedI wanted to love these shoes but the more I ran in them the more I found them wanting. I loved the heel to mid foot transition and they’re super comfortable, almost like wearing a slipper. My primary issue is the energy return, once the transition began and I was on my mid foot the shoe seems to deaden out making me work harder to maintain some rhythm in my stride. I’ve primarily been a Saucony guy. This is definitely an easy day shoe and may work better for others.

BEst On ever! This being my 4th pair-the cloudsurfer is absolutely the best as far as comfort and looks. I also love the bottom because I do not bring rocks stuck in the grooves into work

ComfortabilityThese shoes are so comfortable. I run 75-80 miles a week and these have held up on my recovery runs/ easy runs. They are cushioned but they aren’t too soft if that makes sense. These shoes were worth it and they are still holding up!

Fits nice in the line upI added this shoes to line up to replace my worn out Cliftons. They have a nice feel to them. Because my ankles are small, I have to do the laces trick to get a good lockdown. Took 3 miles to get a good feeling for them. They are light and breathable. It gets hot in Georgia so that is a most. ON shoes seem to have a few tricks to show us.

CLOUDSURFER has me smiling!Look, I don’t run, but I am on my feet all day long and I have a lot of shoes for a guy! I have been an avid Hoka wearer- call dad and when I saw the ON CLOUDSURFER along with some reviews, I ordered them up from RW. They are outstanding! In every way. I hope they bring out more and different colors.

Comfortable cushioned shoeNeutral, true to size and lightweight. Great for road and even easy trail. Not enough structure in the upper for hard cornering.

Nice softer On shoeThis is about my 5th or 6th pair of On shoes I've had. Most I've found to be pretty stiff and firm. All of them are pretty good looking shoes, but I've never thought of them as a great running shoe. The new Cloudsurfer is a big improvement. Taking the speedboard out and reconfiguring the clouds makes it a soft shoe and the upper is pretty nice. One knock (if you can say that) is that for me it's not very responsive. If you're looking for a soft ride to bang out some miles, this should work fine, but I wouldn't use it for speed work. Overall, not a bad shoe that's lightweight and offers a soft ride.

Best On shoe yet.Wow, just wow. After looking at many reviews on these everyone highly recommended them. Finally pulled the trigger on them, and let me start by saying I was absolutely in love with them within the first mile of my 5k run. These do not have the signature spring board that the others do, and because they have done away with it these feel very cushioned not so stiff like my other On shoes. (Cloud and stratus) a nice pillow under your feet with plenty of energy returned with each stride. I felt really good in my run thinking I was running easier when I actually was running a bit faster than my comfortable pace I felt way less tired at the finish as well. I can't say enough good about these and cannot wait to experience them more throughout training. Another added bonus is they look really good and I would also recommend for all day normal wear. They truly hit the mark with this shoe!!
