All Women's Road Shoes

  • Daily TrainersDaily Trainers

The baseline definition of a running shoe. Daily Trainers lean on time-proven designs, technologies and features for dependable cushioning, support and comfort. They're a staple in every runner's closet, and if you are new to running shoes, then you should start your journey here.

  • Performance TrainersPerformance Trainers

Performance Trainers provide a springy feel and make longer runs easier and faster runs faster. While quicker than Daily Trainers, Performance Trainers are not nearly as fast as Super Shoes. Due to a focus on keeping things light weight, Performance Trainers are less durable than Daily Trainers. These can also be a good option for one's first race shoe.

  • Super ShoesSuper Shoes

Super Shoes are the fastest running shoes you can buy. They are designed to race your absolute best and represent the pinnacle of running shoe technology and innovation. They have the highest energy return foams and plates for new levels of performance. Low durability, but maximum speed is the name of the game here.

Men's Running Shoes by Surface

  • Roads & PavementRoads & Pavement

Road running shoes feature smooth outsoles that are designed for running on paved surfaces such as roads, sidewalks, and bike paths.

  • Smooth Trails & FireroadsSmooth Trails & Fireroads

Designed to handle most trail runs, these shoes prioritize comfort and a smooth ride. These shoes are great for anything from smooth singletrack, park trails, and fireroads making them ideal for those who run from their doorstep on streets before hitting the trail.

  • Rocky & Technical TrailsRocky & Technical Trails

These shoes are best used for hard, rugged trails such as shale, granite or sandstone where grip on smooth surfaces and underfoot protection are important.

  • Soft & Muddy TrailsSoft & Muddy Trails

Designed for use in muddy, soggy conditions, these shoes feature very aggressive outsoles that dig deep into soft ground for exceptional traction.

  • Snowy & Icy TrailsSnowy & Icy Trails

These shoes feature technical outsoles designed to grip snowy and icy trails making them ideal for winter trail running.

Cushioning Level

  • Cushioning level, or stack height, refers to how much shoe is between your foot and the ground. For this category, we reference the amount of cushioning below the forefoot as the heel height will be equal to or greater than the forefoot height.
Learn more about stack heights and how we measure them.

  • Barefoot

0-13mm. The Shoe generally does not have a midsole and feels like there is no cushioning. This shoe is all about feeling the ground underfoot.

  • Minimal

14-18mm. The shoe has a thin midsole that allows for a natural running experience. Racing shoes and minimalist shoes are common here. These shoes offer a feeling of being connected to the road or trail.

  • Low

19-23mm. The shoe has a slightly cushioned feel and may feature added cushioning technologies. Performance training shoes and some trail shoes are common here. These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience.

  • Medium

24-28mm. These shoes have a stack height that fall near the middle of the spectrum. The shoes in this category are verstaile and great for all types of runs and distances.

  • High

29-34mm. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. These shoes are highly protective and absorb more impact than the body.

  • Maximal

35mm plus. The shoe has an extremely thick midsole and extra cushioning. The focus is on protection and soft foam underfoot with hardly any ground feel.

Stability Level

  • Neutral

Neutral shoes support the foot through a normal range of arch collapse and generally do not have a built-in technology to correct movement.

  • Stable

Stability shoes are a great option for those who overpronate or need added support. These shoes help to limit the inward rolling motion of the ankle while running or walking and assist in guiding the foot straight through the gait cycle.

Product Details:

If you're on the hunt for a carbon-plated shoe that can withstand all the miles logged during a training season with ease, look no further than the PUMA Deviate Nitro 2. Loaded with two layers of nitrogen-infused foam — a responsive top layer called Nitro Elite and a lightweight bottom layer called Nitro — the Deviate Nitro 2 provides the rebound needed to pick up the pace. It offers the ideal amount of firmness to keep up the energy of the ride without sacrificing comfort. Embedded inside the midsole is the PWRPLATE, an engineered carbon plate that works with the foams to deliver a snappy toe-off. This midsole setup allows you to enjoy a variety of workouts whether lacing these up for your long runs or your speed days.

And when it comes to durability, it just doesn't get much better than the tough-as-nails PUMAGRIP ATR rubber outsole. In the upper, the breathable mesh offers a secure fit thanks to strategically placed PWRTAPE that offers support where you need it while keeping weight to a minimum. Overall, the PUMA Deviate Nitro 2 has what it takes to handle the rigors of intense training as well as the fun of everyday runs.

What You'll Love:

  • High rebound makes it easy to turn on the jets
  • Outsole traction provides confidence on multiple surfaces

How We Measure Our Shoe Specs

  • We measure every shoe in-house to provide accurate and consistent details.

  • Weight

The weight is based on a Men's size 9 for Men's and Unisex shoes or Women's size 8 for Women's shoes. The weight listed is for a single shoe, including the laces.

  • Heel Stack

The heel stack refers to how high your heel sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Forefoot Stack

Forefoot stack refers to how high the ball of the foot sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Heel-toe Offset

Heel-toe offset (drop) is the difference in height between the heel stack and the forefoot stack. We use the number given to us by the brand.

How We Measure Shoe Fit

  • All measurements are based on Medium width.

  • Fit (width) options are Narrow - Snug - Average - Roomy - Wide.

  • Sizing (length) options are Short - True - Long. Note: fit is relative to the "average" running shoe.

  • We partner with SmartLast, a program by Heeluxe, to use advanced shoe-measuring technology, to provide objective measurements for toe box, midfoot, and heel widths as well as overall length.

Great for big runners (in wide)Love this shoe and the Hyperion max 2. Both foams hold up great and don't bottom out. I have used the Hyperion max 2 for two half marathons, but the Puma is more versatile. It's just as fast but can also cruise at slower speeds as well. I logged a 20 miler in the Deviate Nitro 2 and it was perfect! It will likely be my shoe for my first marathon attempt.

Cushioned and DurableI got this shoe as a daily trainer, but after completing a couple long runs in it, I ended up choosing it over the Saucony Endorphin Speed as my race day shoe for a full marathon. While it is a bit heavier, the cushion was just what I needed. Now, closing in on 350 miles, there is still plenty of life in the midsole and plenty of rubber on the outsole. Please be aware that the cutout in the bottom of the shoe where the plate is exposed will definitely pick up rocks or other hitchhikers if you run on trails. And the forefoot is a bit narrow, but that works for my feet. At this sale price, the shoe is totally worth it for the cushion and durability.

One of the Best Travel Shoes Ever?Primarily for the narrow footed. It is a Swiss pocket knife shoe that runs and looks great with shorts, sweats, jeans or chinos. Steps up while walking in the airport, going out for casual dinner and drinks or touring a new City in an early morning run. True to size & pairs well w/ thin socks, including no-show. Enough cushion for easy days/long runs and pop for tempo runs. I find the plate "just right" - not too aggressive. The upper breathes just right. Fits like a glove. Easily the most comfortable walking shoe I have ever owned. Nudges out my prior do it all travel shoe leader - the old New Balance Fresh Foam Beacon.

Ballerina slippersSuper narrow and tapered toebox. Looks like ballerina slippers. Midsole felt good and really like the colors, I just couldn't deal with the cramped forefoot and lack of toe splay. I wear a 12.5 in all my shoes. Puma is one of those brands that doesn't really make a 12.5, so I went up to a 13. Still way to narrow up front. Rave reviews from so many people across the board for this shoe for so long. I finally tried a pair, and I honestly can't understand what people are thinking.

DisappointingI never review shoes, but I had to do it for this one... I am 39 yrs old, usually a 30-40 mpw guy, so nothing too crazy, but I try. Recently I've been doing long training runs in the New Balance SC Trainer (incredible), recovery in Asics Gel Nimbus 25, and some uptempo workouts in the Asics Magic Speed (yes, version 1). I have read review after review about how great these shoes are and even comparisons to the New Balance SC Trainer that I am so fond of. I found them on the Puma website for $120, which saved me about $80 over a new pair of the SC Trainers and buddy, lemme tell ya: Spend the extra $80. These feel like an old stiff pair of Brooks with a plate in there for no reason. Or like, the instability of the first Novablast, with the uncomfortable midsole of the Boston 12. Absolutely soul crushingly stiff foam with the World's Most Pointless Plate that doesn't roll you forward at all. I took them for one FOUR MILE run and could not wait to get home to take them off. I have no idea why the reviews for this are so positive unless you're a masochist.

I had high hopesI really needed something for gravel and dirt roads I run which balances against all the mountain running I do. These were comfortable and seemingly are made really well, but a deal breaker arose after a few runs that I could have never predicted. The small opening on the bottom of the outsole which exposes the carbon plate, will get small and somewhat large rocks jammed into it. I realize this might not happen on strictly road running but that is rare for me to do. They worked fine on gravel or dirt roads otherwise, but having to pick the rocks out every mile or 2 is a total hassle.

Top Tier ShoeThe use for the Deviate Nitro 2 ranges from short tempo runs, 5K, 10K....to Half Marathon. I've had no problems using it for all of them. Short up-tempo runs feel snappy and quick while the longer runs still leave my legs feeling fresh and ready for more. Easily one of my favorite daily trainers. It's just so versatile!

Love this shoeGreat all-rounder shoe. I can pretty much do any marathon training workout in them. It's not over-exaggerated in any particular area. The rocker feeling is pretty mild. It feels bouncy but planted. I find it to feel fairly light under foot, but plenty of foam to protect the legs. If you've heard anything about Puma's, the grip on them is top notch. Coming from something like the Novablast 3, you'll appreciate the grip. Sizing: consider going a half size up. Really great shoe. This is my first Puma running shoe and I'm super happy I picked it up. If you can find it on discount, all the better!

May be a great shoe for faster effortsThe shoe was comfortable and actually felt "softer" than expected for a plated shoe. I returned this shoe because I couldn't really even notice the plate? It's not a full length plate.
