Customer Reviews
Worth a tryI've tried it a number of times with mixed results. When Tailwind is at races, seems to suit me fine in terms of flavor and stomach. When I bought it here and mix it up myself, the flavor is a bit intense and I get some gnarly "tailwind" after about 3 hrs in. I haven't ever had that issue before with other nutrition, so I've just been tweaking the amount to try to find the right balance. Every person is different. I think it's worth trying out to see if it can help reduce the amount of gels your buying and many people say it's softer on the stomach, just not my experience yet.

Comments: Read the ingredients. If you like the flavor and think the pre-mix convenience is worth the cash, cool. BUT, it's just sugar water. Glucose is the most simple sugar there is. This drink will offer no more to your performance than any other sugar source and water.

Comments: I didnt like the taste. Its not natural, very weird.
I dont think they tried it before they marketed it down at Tailwind HQ!

Comments: I feel the same as Dave from Oklahoma. I've run every distance up to 100 mile and tailwind is always a major element of my strategy. I used to focus on gels and whatever the aid stations had, but I would almost always get behind and end up throwing up after trying to get back on schedule. No bueno. My formula is two scoops of tailwind per hour and one gel for 300 calories per hour. No stomach issues at all.

Comments: TRY IT!, I have been running for 6 years now always used gels for fuel. After attempting a 100k run two years in a row and bonking on hydration and nutrition at mile 35 on both attempts I knew something had to change. After research and reading lots of reviews I decided to try Tailwind. Just finished a sub 24 hour 100 mile run with no issues at all. The only thing i changed from previous years failures was switching from gels to Tailwind. I mix flavors in different combos so I don't get tired of same flavor over and over.(always taste great) Also at races when using aid stations I mixed a concentrate of powder with little water to make paste like substance. Then pour concentrate from one flask to empty flask and top off with water at aid stations. I managed to carry six hours of tailwind in a single 16 ounce soft flask. Is a constant energy/fuel unlike gels. Works Perfect! Great flavors, Great light taste, Mixes easy, Great value, Super long shelf life. Can't go wrong, Give it a try

Comments: As a competitive runner, cyclist and multi-sport athlete, I have tried every hydration product on the market. Tailwind is my absolute favorite! Mild flavor, easy on the stomach, and even palatable when it's hot (I live in Arizona so liquid always ends up hot). Tailwind is my hydration drink of choice for all my outdoor adventures, including high-elevation summit attempts on mountaineering trips around the world.

Comments: I've been using Tailwind for a few years now and am a huge fan. All the flavors are mild and tasty, but my favorites are Berry and Mandarin Orange.
From: Lily, Los Angeles. July 23rd 2017
Comments: I read the attached reviews and thought I would try this. I picked the Berry flavor. The first few miles it was fine. After 3-1/2 hours I had a bitter taste in my mouth from this flavor. I also had to take a GU as I was getting light headed. I live in Florida and the temperature was only 73 degrees and overcast. I used 3 20oz drink bottles and 2 scoops following the directions. By 4-1/4 hours of running the taste in my mouth was very bitter (this may have been due to the Berry flavor). Regardless I would not recommend this for a good size runner. I'm 6-2 and 195#. Your going to need to supplement this with some of your favorites. Sometimes posts can be misleading. If your 5-10 and 135# you might be able to use this without any other supplements. For those that wish to try this I would NOT recommend the Berry flavor

Comments: This stuff is magic. No stomach issues and I can take in plenty of calories. Wish I knew of this years ago!

Comments: I had given up GUs and began my marathon training for NYC with just water and Gatorade. Everything was going great until my Long runs started passing the 2hr mark and I began having issues with energy, light cramping and hydration, I sweat a lot during running and lose a lot of salt. All my hard effort workouts were better than expected but my Long Runs suffered even with slower pacing. I couldn't see myself taking in 3+ GUs for workouts over 2hrs plus carrying salt pills all the time so I did some research and came across Tailwind. I've been using it for the past 5 long runs during my peak training for NYC and its done WONDERS! Energy is constant, I had leg power to complete 2 fast finish longs, no cramping or light headedness after AND PRd my Half 2 weeks ago! It just works.
I use 1 scoop for all my junk mile runs, 2 scoops for work outs and 2 scoops/hour for log runs (200 cal/hr). I'll take in 2oz of the mix with water every 1.5-2miles to stay constantly hydrated with the calorie needs.

Comments: I have used Tailwind for about 2 years. Like many people, I was skeptical that a liquid could give you long term sustenance, but after using it during various ultra distance races, I was made a believer. In 2015 I ran a 128 mile race, drinking primarily Tailwind and very little solid food. It is also very easy on the stomach.

Comments: I first heard of Tailwind at a Desert Dash trail race in Nevada this past February 2016, as it was their on course hydration drink. I bought a few stick packs at the running store where the packet pick up was to take home and try on a couple longer runs of about 10 miles. Found it here on RW, as there were no stores near me in CA to purchase, and I bought the 30 serving package. I was a bit apprehensive about it at first, but it is exactly what it says it is--no joke! Training for a 50k, I've used it for my runs of 10, 16, 20 plus miles and felt GREAT, never feeling depleted!! No need to bring any other fuel foods, salt tabs--this is all you need! Great product!
From: Shari, Oak Park, CA, USA. May 3rd 2016
Comments: I also have been using it for the last year. Use to use with bottles, completely water soluble. Excellent RW is carrying it. Just restocked for a few months.
From: John, Yukon, AK, USA. November 1st 2015
Comments: Tailwind is fantastic, and it's great to see RW carrying it! Would be great to see the 50-serving size here too.

Comments: I am so happy this is available at RW. This product changed my running life.
From: Burke, Greensburg, LA, USA. July 20th 2015
Comments: I've recently switched to tailwind from gels. I've found that this make staying on top of calories a lot easier and I know longer have to remember to take a gel or salt cap every hour or so. I can now simply fill my bladder and sip on it as I run. I've done runs up to 30 miles on nothing but tailwind.
From: Rob, OH, USA. June 4th 2015
Comments: This is my go-to fuel for long training runs and marathons. The slogan "All you need, all day" is accurate. Tailwind tastes good, does not cause GI issues, and keeps your energy level steady. Put simply, it is fantastic stuff. Highly recommended.
From: JM, Topeka, KS, USA. April 25th 2015
Comments: Finally! I have been using Tailwind for the past year and it has changed how I can run long runs. I had a hard time finding it locally and have been a loyal RW purchaser for years. Tailwind is the most tolerable drink out there...also don't have to use GU any more, yuck! YAY!
From: Darren, Dallas, TX, USA. March 27th 2015
Comments: I used 2 scoops of the mandarin orange for my half marathon along with a birthday cake GU gel and I felt great. The taste is perfect when you get 9 miles in its the perfect amount of flavor. I also use it when working out and have no stomach issues.
