Cushioning Level

Learn more about stack heights and how we measure them.

  • Barefoot

0-13mm. The Shoe generally does not have a midsole and feels like there is no cushioning. This shoe is all about feeling the ground underfoot.

  • Minimal

14-18mm. The shoe has a thin midsole that allows for a natural running experience. Racing shoes and minimalist shoes are common here. These shoes offer a feeling of being connected to the road or trail.

  • Low

19-23mm. The shoe has a slightly cushioned feel and may feature added cushioning technologies. Performance training shoes and some trail shoes are common here. These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience.

  • Medium

24-28mm. These shoes have a stack height that fall near the middle of the spectrum. The shoes in this category are verstaile and great for all types of runs and distances.

  • High

29-34mm. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. These shoes are highly protective and absorb more impact than the body.

  • Maximal

35mm plus. The shoe has an extremely thick midsole and extra cushioning. The focus is on protection and soft foam underfoot with hardly any ground feel.

Stability Level

  • Neutral

Neutral shoes support the foot through a normal range of arch collapse and generally do not have a built-in technology to correct movement.

  • Stable

Stability shoes are a great option for those who overpronate or need added support. These shoes help to limit the inward rolling motion of the ankle while running or walking and assist in guiding the foot straight through the gait cycle.

Product Details:

Looking for a shoe that can keep up with your toughest training runs or races? The North Face VECTIV Enduris 4 can be your new go-to. It’s designed with high-performance features to help you reach your personal best, whether you're pushing through everyday workouts or tackling long-distance trails. It's the close sibling of the racing-focused Summit VECTIV Pro 3 — tuned for a more approachable everyday training experience.

A key upgrade is the thicker cushioning of ultralight nitrogen-infused DREAM foam, giving you extra comfort and rebound to help reduce fatigue. Plus, with the VECTIV 3.0 TPU plate, you're not only getting side-to-side stability, but also a boost in forward propulsion.

Now let’s talk traction. The SURFACE CTRL rubber outsole is equipped with longer 4 mm lugs that will grip onto just about any surface — whether it’s soft, muddy, or unpredictable trail conditions. That means more confidence underfoot, no matter where your run takes you.

The upper is just as impressive. It’s made from breathable air mesh for a cool and comfortable fit, while the internal heel counter adds extra stability where you need it most. Plus, with TPU overlays around the toe and heel, you’re getting added protection from the environment.

So, if you're after a shoe that offers long-distance comfort, stability, and durability on the trails, The North Face VECTIV Enduris 4 is a performance trail shoe to help you crush your goals.

How We Measure Our Shoe Specs

  • We measure every shoe in-house to provide accurate and consistent details.

  • Weight

The weight is based on a Men's size 9 for Men's and Unisex shoes or Women's size 8 for Women's shoes. The weight listed is for a single shoe, including the laces.

  • Heel Stack

The heel stack refers to how high your heel sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Forefoot Stack

Forefoot stack refers to how high the ball of the foot sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Heel-toe Offset

Heel-toe offset (drop) is the difference in height between the heel stack and the forefoot stack. We use the number given to us by the brand.

How We Measure Shoe Fit

  • All measurements are based on Medium width.

  • Fit (width) options are Narrow - Snug - Average - Roomy - Wide.

  • Sizing (length) options are Short - True - Long. Note: fit is relative to the "average" running shoe.

  • We partner with SmartLast, a program by Heeluxe, to use advanced shoe-measuring technology, to provide objective measurements for toe box, midfoot, and heel widths as well as overall length.

Let down by the plateThe shoe feels great underfoot, rides well for a bulkier shoe, and has a comfortable upper. But I could feel the plate on the edge of my left foot most steps, and when going downhill fast it was borderline painful. If the plate works for you it's likely a good choice, but hard to recommend with that caveat.

Wing WoesI had high hopes for these as many of the reviews are great. My only fear was the comments about the wings on the lateral and medial sides of the forefoot. Unfortunately my fears were born out, as immediately upon try on after receipt I could feel them digging into the lateral side of my feet even just walking around in the house to get a feel for them. It’s really a shame because the upper materials and fit were great, the midsole foam felt amazing, and the outsole looked to be phenomenally grippy and durable. I do not have an exceptionally wide foot, and yet the wings very clearly would have become a major irritant on a run on anything but flat surface buffed out trails. Buyer be warned! These could turn out great for you, or they could be a bust due to these wings. I understand the purpose, but the execution rendered the shoes unusable for me, particularly at the price point. Rated 2 Stars because the rest of the shoe is great. Otherwise would have gotten 1. Bummer.

Almost perfect !Took these for 20 miles right out of the box! The fit and ride are soooooo good. That dream foam paired with the rocker is smooth as butter and the lugs are amazing. There's a surprising amount of room in toe box which you couldn't tell from the tapered look and the upper molds to your foot really well after a few miles. My only complaint is that the plastic "wings" can dig into your medial and lateral forefoot on toe off. When they do, it is really uncomfortable. The ride is so good I'm considering clipping off the tips of the wings and filling with shoe goo, but hesitant to modify a $160 pair of shoes. Hope they do something different with the wings next time.

Big Changes from V3If you are coming from the last version of this shoe you will be surprised. With the added stack and new midsole compound this is now firmly in the 50mi+ race day or super cushioned trainer category. Which it is great at. Incredibly plush, good energy return, good upper with a generous forefoot, and TNF's outsole rubber competes well with Vibram Megagrip and the higher end Salomon compounds. This shoe is a no brainer for long non technical days. It take a major step back from the technical prowess of the last version though. The updated rocker combined with the added stack and softer foam makes these less than ideal for steep and rocky terrain. I ended up exchanging these for the new Vectiv Infinite which trades some of the cushioning for a more stable platform that can easily go up to 50k (or probably more) but feels better on technical terrain and has a bit better midfoot lockdown. I wear size 11 in everything and these fit true to size with healthy room in the toe box.

Wings keep them from flyingI was really stoked to get a pair of these as soon as I saw the previews. I loved the 3 but wished for a better midsole material and a little bit more outsole. The 4 looked like it would be that and so much more. However, those WINGS in the forefoot. While I imagine if you have regular to narrow feet, these will not present a problem...if your forefoot needs to stretch out even just a little bit..... hard plastic is not what you want it stretching into. So disappointed at the design choice to put those in. Really could have been a great shoe, but after 5 minutes in my house, I knew they had to go right back. Not that they hurt, yet.... but it was clear on a long trail day, after a little break in, those hard plastic wings would be grounding this trail lover.

GOAT Trail ShoeThese absolutely obsolete 95% of the competitors out there. The Dream midsole is perfectly bouncy, resilient, and responsive. Most important, it is incredibly fun. It has held up very well at almost 100 miles. The outsole does indeed grip very well on smooth limestone rocks, and is great even on wet ones. On par with megagrip. Mud actually cleaned off easily from these, though the outsole is better for rocks than fells. No wear issues on it as well. The upper locks down your foot incredibly well. No movement over technical terrain, and you can rip down complex sections with complete confidence. Best trail shoe out of the probably 100+ I've owned.

Grip???Great shoe overall, but the grip is a liability on technical terrain after a few runs. The shoe just wants you to go long for hours and hours. Was skeptical about the wings on the shoe but I do not feel them.
