Great shoeI love the Topo shoes. They are my absolute new favorite. Nice roomy toe box, super soft like a Hoka, and great arches. I love these shoes, similar in toe box room to Altras but the arch support in these Topo shoes is awesome and thus far has surpassed my happiness with any shoe thus far! Great job Topo and thanks for putting out such an absolutely amazing shoe, I am so appreciative

Topo MTN Racer 3I have a wide foot so the toe box of this shoe is perfect for me. Very comfortable shoe that I used for hiking/running in Zion and Bryce Canyon. I highly recommend this shoe.

100 mile finisherWas afraid to move away from the hokas but a toe injury forced me. Immediately when you put these in you think oh wow my toes are free, this is what a toe box should feel like. I was worried about less cushion and really long distance. But I ran 100 miles in these shoes and ALL of training , no blisters, no complaints. Did go up 1/2 a size

Topo MTN racer 3Since there are no distributors for Topo in South Africa, I had to purchase these online. Reviews were good. These were supposed to be my Skyrun 100km shoes. With duties and taxes, it cost me $302! Running Warehouse - xcellent service! Topo - left shoe upper came loose from midsole after a non-technical trail run of 7.84km! Only had contact adhesive. Glued it back together. Upper again loosened after a 65km trail run in the Cederberg. Glued again with shoe goo. I thought the logistics of replacing these would probably be a nightmare and was not willing to spend more money. Love the fit, the wide toebox, the cushioning, the grip. Just expected better quality.

Love the MTN RacersSecond pair...the first got me through lots of technical ultras this season. Only negative is the the material at the shoe collar wears quickly. Otherwise, great shoe

Good for the right personThe shoes seemed like they would be great for the right person but they did not work for me. I loved the toe box but the arch in the shoe pushed up too much for me and seemed to far back which made the uncomfortable for me.

Comfortable all around shoe for tech trailsI was in need of a “do it all” trail shoe for Western States and this did the trick! I had it on my feet the first 31 miles to Robinson Flat and my feet and toes felt great, despite the technical terrain in the high country. I made a mistake changing into another shoe - I should have kept this on until Forest Hill. Since the race I find myself reaching for this shoe frequently. It’s got a great roomy toe box but is not sloppy. My mid- and rear foot is secure. Traction is great and the shoe is very flexible. The zip foam is not anything special but it is cushy enough for up to about 50 miles and definitely comfortable. I did upgrade to topo’s lightweight moisture resistant insert and find it with it for extra comfort and moisture control.

A nice nimble and responsive trail shoeIt's nice to have a much more responsive trail shoe on my feet again as I had been training in the Nike Zegama for the past year. Although I liked the Zegama, I like the Topo Mtn Racer 3 better as it is lower to the ground and more nimble and less bulk on the heel (I am a forefoot striker). The cushioning is just right (not too much nor too little). Traction excellent as I broke them in out of the box on an 11 mile run on dirt and gravel roads with 1900 ft elevation gain. I was initially worried about the shoe being too wide as I have a narrow foot but that never was really an issue. Looking forward to doing some fast paced training in them along with some shorter distance trail races.

Great ShoeLong time trail runner here. I’ve ran in many brands. My typical shoe for trail running is Altra, but the latest versions just haven’t worked for me. I recently tried Nike Zegama and loved the fit. But after 10 miles my knees started to hurt. Topo was my next to try. These shoes fit perfectly and were an amazing mix of the wide toe box of the Altra but the comfy fit of the Zegama. They are not too cushiony but not too flat! I think I may buy more of these in the future. Sizing……. I typically wear 8 1/2 in most runners. Except Altra. The Topos I was torn whether to do 8 1/2 or 8. So I did the 8 and they are perfect! Great show! A must try for sure!

Not a snug fitThe Topo Mountain Racer 3 felt really comfortable and roomy when I first stepped into the shoes. When out on my test run I noticed that cushioning seemed to feel flat with no bounce back . The toe box was overly roomy for me and I normally wear a 2E in other shoes. For the right person the mountain racer 3s would probably be great but for me the shoe did not hug my feet causing them to have an unstable feel.

Comfortable until it wasn’tThis shoe started out great. It is cushiony but not too cushiony; stiff but not too stiff. The shoe is great for someone who wants a wide toe box but doesn’t want zero-drop. It has Vibram some, which is the Cadillac of soles for trail shoes. I will say that the inside upper isn’t that strong, which is not that great for someone who pronates—like me. After I put 130 miles on these shoes, I started getting multiple blisters. However, I will continue with Topos, as they have the features I want/need in a trail shoe. I saw a comment on a running gear review blog once that said “ Altra are the gateway drug to Topos”!

Wide toe box! This shoe is what I needed for my bilateral neuromas! The Topos don't eliminate the pain issue, but greatly diminish. I can increase my mileage significantly.

AmazingI am so impressed with this shoe. The toe box is perfectly wide without being too boxy/cavernous, and the mid-section tightens down and stays tight. I have a narrow mid-foot and heel, so the combination of width in the forefoot and snugness everywhere else is surprisingly perfect. Upper is breathable, and traction and foot protection (even without a plate) is great on very rocky/shale-y trails.

Amazing show with mediocre shoelaces.Once I replaced the laces, this shoe became my favorite shoe over the last several years. Grip, weight, comfort, and wear. First pair of TOPOS, but ordered a road pair after wearing these for 25 miles.

Exactly what I was looking forI’ve been an avid OCR runner for the past few years but never pulled the trigger on a good quality shoe, until now. These shoes perform exactly how they were described. The fit and comfort is perfect from training to being battle tested through the mud and obstacles of a Spartan race. The traction is great both on the trails and the obstacles. The drainage is spot on. My only criticism is they run a touch small so I had to return for a 1/2 size up, but this company is awesome and doing so was a breeze.

Comfortable right out of the boxThe upper of this version is so much better than previous versions. I took my pair for 8 miles on their first run and never once thought about my feet, which is a real win for me.

Good at first and then…I’ve had these for about a month. Size 11 which is my normal trail shoe size. I trained on local trails in these for a month preparing for crossing the Grand Canyon. They were fine shoes during shorter training hikes and runs on trails, 6-12 miles for training. Started down into the Grand Canyon on May 3, south rim to north (and back). About 2-4 miles into the trek I developed very bad blisters in these shoes. Perhaps they are just not secure enough for the extreme downhills and uphills of this place. I have done the rim to rim to rim in other shoes, namely Altra Timp, with zero blister issues. Kind of disappointed in this Topo Mtn Racer. Climbing out of the Canyon with painful blisters was miserable and I would point to an imprecise/insecure fit of this shoe. I wore Stance light cushion merino trail socks and carried a day pack, maybe 17 pounds. Also, I wear the Topo trailventure biit for heavier backpacking in the mountains and that shoe causes no issues.

Everything rightTopo nailed it with this shoe. Great lockdown and secure midfoot along with a spacious toe box help keep toenails intact on mountainous terrain. The medium-soft ride is comfy, but also snappy and efficient. I ran a very sloppy Lake Sonoma Marathon in this shoe and the vibram outsole was fantastic. Great grip even in the mud. Great laces too that mostly stay tied. Add the ingeniously integrated gaiters and this is a shoe for any and all trail conditions. If you like Altra, you'll love Topo.

Great shoe!Excellent trail shoe. I'm doing my first trail race with them this weekend so we'll see how they do in a race setting but they were great for my training. Love the color. I got my normal size & they fit great.

Almost GreatPros - Ample room in the toebox yet good "lockdown", comfortable fit, good grip Cons - substantial, uncomfortable, rigid "arch support" to the point where it feels like my form is altered.

Tri State Spartan Ultra Used the MTN Racer 3 on Saturday September 30, 2023, In a Spartan Ultra 50K race with an elevation gain of 12,780 feet and they worked perfectly for me, There was a lot of mud on the route, fire roads, Rivers, They did not slip on the rocky descents, They drain the water very well, they stayed quite dry, they always adapted to the terrain, They did not break on me, They did not slip on the downhills nor on the uphills, They always remained comfortable, I usually change my tennis shoes in the transition but with these I didn't have to. Runningwarehouse's description for these shoes was perfect. I recommend it

Excellent trail shoeI really don't think I have a single complaint. I'm between an 11 and 11.5 in topos and Altras. My first MTN racers were the first version and the 11 was a tad short. The 11s in the 3rd itineration give adequate room for lots of miles and steep descents. I put about 2 miles on these shoes before running the Wy'East 50 miler in them. While not smart to race in a new shoe, I wasn't real happy with what I had been training in. From the instant I slipped my foot into these they felt very comfortable, secure, and agile. I didn't develop a single blister during the 50 mile race and not once did my feet feel achy. I have a very narrow, flat foot and was still able to achieve a secure lock down. I really prefer running in zero drop shoes, but the Topo Pursuits would always cause my "arch" to ache. This was not the case at all with these and honestly with the 5 mm drop I could hardly tell a difference. After 52 miles in these shoes, they still look brand new. Shipping was fast and inexpensive from Running Warehouse! Go ahead and buy them.
