The Topo Athletic Phantom 3 is a versatile daily trainer that provides reliable cushioning and long-lasting comfort. It features a dual-density ZipFoam midsole that combines a soft top layer for a plush feel with a firmer EVA bottom layer for stability and responsiveness. With its softer and lighter midsole foam, these shoes will perform just as well for fitness walkers as dedicated runners. The outsole is equipped with a 3 mm layer of rubber that delivers all the necessary grip and durability needed to handle all the miles you throw at it, and the engineered mesh upper provides excellent breathability and a secure "set it and forget it" fit. GREAT SHOESThese shoes are comfortable with plenty of space in the toe box. They are great for running or just everyday shoes.

Too softI’ve been using the Phantom 2. First Topo and I love that shoe. Purchased the 3. Fit is great but after using them a bit I noticed they are too soft and my foot was supinating a far amount and causing some discomfort. I went back to my old pair and the discomfort disappeared from my lateral glute. I repeated this several times with the same results. Fortunately, I was able to find another 2 in my size. If you have a stable gait and you want high cushioning this shoe is definitely worth checking out.

almost perfectThis is a very well made shoe. The top and the sole is very supportive. It didn't work for me as the arch support hits my foot wrong

DisappointedI have acute bunions that require maximum depth and in both the toebox and midfoot. Even in wide width, the Phantom 3 didn't work for me. Yes, the toebox is wider than the average running shoe. But, contrary to Running Warehouse's description, I didn't find the midfoot (or heel) at all wide. While the platform may be wide, the stability side-rails take up a good chunk of the width. Meaning that if your foot is wider than average, it likely will sprawl over the footbed with your foot edges uncomfortably and awkwardly on top of the side-rails. It's also not a a particularly deep toebox or midfoot. The cushioning is ok, but not up there with many other running shoes of equal or roughly equal stack height. The arch also is higher than the average nuetral shoe and also feels a bit harsh. On the plus side, the ride is responsive and the shoes feels lighter than its actual weight.

Comfortable shoe with a couple minor flaws.I have 300 miles into my Phantoms. I'm a trail\ultra runner who trains on urban roads due to circumstance. Good shoe for everyday and long training runs. Many hour long runs, as well as several 20+ mile runs. Not a "fast" shoe, but worthy of getting the weekly miles in. The tox box width, plus the 5mm was why I bought them. Came to the Phantoms from Brooks Ghosts, which served me well, minus constricting my forefoot. I decided to try the Phantoms because the Topo Mtn Racer 2s have been my favorite shoe the last year+ (haven't tried racer 3s, yet). My experience with both the Phantoms and Racer 2 is that both run small. The lacing holds the foot well, but I find the tips of my toes hitting the end of the toe box. Buying a half size up seems to be the solution. The other issue I've had with the Phantoms is the thick/stiff tongue. The corner of the tongue was rubbing the front of my ankles every stride and was a bit uncomfortable. I've solved this by pulling the tongue over slightly toward the center of each foot before lacing. This isn't a big issue, but it took me a few runs to find the sweet spot before lacing.
