  • Super ShoesSuper Shoes

The pinnacle of the pyramid, super shoes are the fastest running shoes you can buy. They're designed to race your absolute best and are the apex of running shoe technology and innovation. Often built with carbon fiber plates and cutting edge superfoams for the highest energy return, they're made for ultimate racing speed.

Cushioning Level

  • Cushioning level, or stack height, refers to how much shoe is between your foot and the ground. For this category, we reference the amount of cushioning below the forefoot as the heel height will be equal to or greater than the forefoot height.
Learn more about stack heights and how we measure them.

  • Barefoot

0-13mm. The Shoe generally does not have a midsole and feels like there is no cushioning. This shoe is all about feeling the ground underfoot.

  • Minimal

14-18mm. The shoe has a thin midsole that allows for a natural running experience. Racing shoes and minimalist shoes are common here. These shoes offer a feeling of being connected to the road or trail.

  • Low

19-23mm. The shoe has a slightly cushioned feel and may feature added cushioning technologies. Performance training shoes and some trail shoes are common here. These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience.

  • Medium

24-28mm. These shoes have a stack height that fall near the middle of the spectrum. The shoes in this category are verstaile and great for all types of runs and distances.

  • High

29-34mm. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. These shoes are highly protective and absorb more impact than the body.

  • Maximal

35mm plus. The shoe has an extremely thick midsole and extra cushioning. The focus is on protection and soft foam underfoot with hardly any ground feel.

Stability Level

  • Neutral Running Shoes

Neutral shoes support the foot through a normal range of arch collapse and generally do not have built-in technology to correct movement.

  • Stability Running Shoes

Stability shoes are a great option for those who overpronate or need added support. These shoes help to limit the inward rolling motion of the ankle while running or walking and assist in guiding the foot straight through the gait cycle.

Product Details:

The adidas adizero Evo SL blends the best of both worlds: the lightweight speed of super shoes like the revolutionary adizero Adios Pro Evo, with the daily versatility of the adizero SL or Boston. Inspired by the fastest-looking and hottest racing shoe, then adjusted for more broadly accessible use, the Evo SL is the ultimate super trainer for runners seeking both speed and durability in their weekly runs and workouts.

Featuring a full-length Lightstrike Pro midsole, the same superfoam used in elite racing shoes, this shoe offers a responsive and lightweight ride ideal for faster paces. Like the Adios Pro Evo, this cutting-edge foam is non-compression molded, which increases energy return, significantly reduces weight, and provides ample cushioning for longer distances without sacrificing speed.

Unlike its carbon-rodded Adios Pro siblings, the Evo SL opts for a simpler nylon shank in the midfoot for a smooth balance of flexibility and rigidity. Further, the absence of significant midsole cutouts enhances inherent stability. Meanwhile, the outsole is equipped with thin Continental rubber in the front half and clear rubber in the heel, enhancing traction and durability while keeping weight to a minimum.

Complete with a breathable engineered mesh upper and including a more padded and supportive heel and midfoot, this performance trainer delivers excellent comfort and structure. Whether logging miles or picking up the pace, the adidas adizero Evo SL is engineered to handle it all with easy speed.

What You'll Love:

  • Soft, light, full-length Lightstrike Pro midsole
  • Elite aesthetic and speedy performance

How We Measure Our Shoe Specs

  • We measure every shoe in-house to provide accurate and consistent details.

  • Weight

The weight is based on a Men's size 9 for Men's and Unisex shoes or Women's size 8 for Women's shoes. The weight listed is for a single shoe, including the laces.

  • Heel Stack

The heel stack refers to how high your heel sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Forefoot Stack

Forefoot stack refers to how high the ball of the foot sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Heel-toe Offset

Heel-toe offset (drop) is the difference in height between the heel stack and the forefoot stack. We use the number given to us by the brand.

How We Measure Shoe Fit

  • All measurements are based on Medium width.

  • Fit (width) options are Narrow - Snug - Average - Roomy - Wide.

  • Sizing (length) options are Short - True - Long. Note: fit is relative to the "average" running shoe.

  • We partner with SmartLast, a program by Heeluxe, to use advanced shoe-measuring technology, to provide objective measurements for toe box, midfoot, and heel widths as well as overall length.

Fast but AwkwardThe shoe has great energy return but I'm not a fan of the stack height. It feels unstable and a bit precarious, particularly for turns. I would not take this on any kind of trail, would be a major ankle-roll risk. It also feels very chunky at the midfoot and slightly unbalanced, almost like there's something stuck to the bottom. That's the downside of getting energy return from a big stack of foam rather than a plate. Fit is comfortable, wider in the toebox than I'd expect from an Adidas, though I did have to size up 1/2 size. The laces are too short and nearly impossible to double knot. I call that a huge fail, particularly for a shoe that people will likely be racing in. This shoe will not be in my regular rotation.

BANG!These are the best road shoes I've run in in years! They remind me a lot of the old Adizero Boston 7 which I raced everything from 5K to the marathon to 50K on the trails in. I haven't loved an Adidas shoe since then... Until now! The toe box is spacious, but the upper is secure. The mesh is breathable. And the midsole is SO GOOD! So much rebound. And so smooth. I'm stoked on this shoe.

Short tongueI love this shoe as far as the bounce, it’s light weight, has good grip and feels great and comfortable when running in them. The only thing I hate is the tongue. It’s too short, and it will slide down on my foot so far that the laces will either come untied, and one time they made a small cut on the top of my foot. Seems like so many of the running shoes I have purchased in the last couple years the tongue is too short especially from Adidas and New Balance. I don’t understand why?

One of the best running shoes I’ve ever ownedThis is the lightest, softest and most responsive running shoe I’ve ever owned! The design is near perfect for simplicity, form factor and long distance comfort. Yes, the tongue is a little unwieldy but you can work around that and change out the laces. I ordered a 10.5 and normally wear an 11. It’s a little short for long distance so I’m getting an 11 right now and will keep the 10.5 for shorter distance training. Usually the softer the shoe the less responsive it becomes but this shoe completely breaks those rules. I’m planning on using this for an upcoming flat 50 miler. This shoe had a huge range and a great price point.

Among my favorite shoes everJust crossed 300 miles in my pair. I’ve used it for everything from daily miles, long runs, and even ran my spring marathon in them. Incredible shoe, never bottoms out, always comfy. For $150 this is an extremely good value.

Great Shoe - not for everyoneI bought a pair to have something completely different to switch out with the Hyperions and Kinvaras that I normally run in. They took a little getting used to. At first I was even a bit wobbly in them. But after a few runs (they've now got over 200mi), I began to love the feel. My running is usually on asphalt or gravel roads. The AdiZeros work great for both. And while they look a bit clunky, they are extremely light. They feel like a lighter version of my Hoka trail shoes (and with a smooth sole). I don't think everyone will like the feel of the softness accompanied by the forward roll. But if you take a bit of time and get used to these features, the AdiZero becomes an everyday trainer that is light and kind of fun to run in.

Proper shoe size affects rideI recently had the chance to try the Evo SL in a half size smaller than my true-to-size fit. Going down half a size, while making the upper fit better, resulted in a less than stellar midsole experience. I am a mid/forefoot striker who mildly supinates. Sizing down by half seemed to have caused the rocker point to move closer to the toes (and shorten that sweet spot forefoot landing bed). Rather than experiencing the soft mid/forefoot strike that smoothly and effortlessly rolls into toe-off, the foot strike is hitting the foam more head-on and the roll to the toe-off comes later in the cycle. The foot impact is being blunted by the foam instead of being guided into a forward-rolling transition. I can understand why some people may not feel the magic of this shoe's rocker and foam design - if the sizing is off, it becomes just an average or subpar shoe. But in the proper (true-to-size) fit, it becomes a super shoe. I will be ordering many more future pairs but in my true-to-size fit. For version 2, hope they keep the midsole unchanged but tidy up the upper to fit better. One adjustment I made was to cut the tongue much like how the Vaperfly's tongue has a V area to relieve pressure on a tendon at the top of the foot. Other than that, it is still a 5 star shoe in the proper size.

Excellent OfferingI’ve got about 40 miles on this shoe and really loving the responsiveness and cushion. I primarily run on chipseal roads that can get a little rough and the shoe is holding up great so far. Very light, breathable and good amount of room in the toe box. Very comfortable for my 1 hour runs.

Good. Not great.First adidas shoe. Not recommended for newer runners. While I do like this shoe, It has taken me about 6 months to put 100 miles on it (average 25-35 miles a week). I found myself reaching for the Novablast 5 more. The tongue and the laces are obviously massive oversights and I had to switch the laces out immediately. Thought the popular grooved laces would work but due to the thin tongue, they caused lace bite. Switched to a pair of some traditional new balance laces and much better. Out of the box, they feel insanely fast and true neutral. Forefoot is roomy while midfoot is reminiscent of PUMA trainer width. Quite unstable at EZ pace. After 30-50 miles, the midsole beds in though and it becomes better at EZ paces. The upper is incredibly baggy and I need to re-lace once or twice a run to get it just right. The outsole is grippy and it works like others have said. I use it for fartleks and long runs with pick ups. Not sure if I’ll buy another pair but it’s going pretty good now and hopefully the next version has the proper upper modifications to make this a home run.

Just An Excellent - Very Solid Shoe! The Adidas Evo Sl- What a FUN shoe this is- It's fast and just right under foot- Different in a great way especially as no carbon plate which unfortunately give me ankle pain if I run in them exclusively. Yes it's got a high stack and the tongue is a bit flimsy, but so are most racing shoes of late - I find I am going to this shoe first every day - definitely ordering another pair. Similar in some ways to Brooks Max. I find it runs a bit large (I'm Always in men's 11.5 Saucony and Brooks, it's a little large but okay!) You SHOULD try this shoe - It's really an awesome effort by Adidas!

Best do it all shoeBest do it all shoes I have had. I bought my first pair the last day of July. I have put more that 300 miles in 3 months and they feel as amazing as the first day. My plan was to alternate then with my Novablast 5, (75 miles when I bought the Adidas). 3 months later, the Novablast have the same 75 miles. That should tell you enough. I use them for everything besides racing (my Meta Speed Sky Paris do that job)

Did Not Live Up to HypeI was on the fence about this shoe and bought it because I figured I could wear it as a daily work shoe if I didn’t like running in it. No-go on both counts. My problem with this is the same I had with the Nimbus 26 and Superblast 2 - too squishy. With overly cushioned shoes I feel like they’re fighting me, not helping. I’m around 6’2 220 lbs. so my experience is probably different than most, but these were a letdown. This is also not a stable platform, so much so that I don’t want to wear it just going about my day. For new runners my size, I suggest looking at the Ride 18s, Pegasus 41s and Boston 12s.

Fantastic!I hate running! Not a fan. BUT I do workout and my job is very physical. I am outside standing, walking etc for 12-14 hours a day- 6 days a week. Shoes are critical for me to be successful in my career. I have tried 100’s of different types of shoes in my life. But once I put these Adizero shoes on…I was totally shocked! On my first step-I was hooked! So, I may not be the runner that these shoes were meant for, but my daily life has been elevated for a successful day and recovered easily over night for the next. Thanks Adidas for making a shoe that has allowed me to focus on work and not the pain I’ve been in!

FantasticI am by no means a seasoned runner. However, I have tried various brands and many models- only to have these rate at my favorite, to date. I have run 2 half marathons in these bad boys, and have nothing but praise for them. The LS might be my favorite cushioning- responsive, soft, but also provides stability for my feet/ankles. The ONLY draw back for me is that the tongue is not gusseted. It's a minor complaint, but c'mon. Having said that, I'm already looking into getting another pair. These shoes are worth it!

Candidate for all-time favorite trainerIt took about 30 miles for the upper to break in, but the shoes are light, well-cushioned, and propulsive... An absolute steal at $140. I'm approaching 500 miles on my first pair, and they are holding up surprisingly well. Given the incredible price point, these probably dethrone the Endorphin Speed II as my all-time favorite trainer.

I don't get the hypeI honestly do not understand the hype around this shoe. It is simply a compromise shoe, not an "all around shoe", and even that feels generous. It feels heavy and clunky underfoot. It does not feel good going slow or fast. The shape makes no sense; very wide in the midfoot then abruptly comes to a narrow toe box that causes your big toe to rub on every step. The foam is dense and rigid with no energy return. You are reminded that you are wearing the show with every step (not in a good way) as it feels like you need to adapt your stride for the shoe rather than the shoe working with your stride. I am really scratching my head as to why people like this shoe. This may be the worst shoe I have ever worn. For reference, I run ~70 miles/week and have run the marathon under 2:30. I have run in a lot of shoes over the years and this is the first time I am just plain baffled by a shoe.

Go down 1/2 size for better fit, very softFirst, the length of the SL is longer than that of the Pro series shoes, which is disappointing. My normal 9.5 in the Pro 3 is too long in the SL. I wished I had gone down to size 9 in the SL. The shoe is very soft and without a plate/rods it's a bit wobbly at times. Weight and feel is good, but I really miss the pop from the Pro 3.

Bounce and cushionI have 26 miles on these shoes, the only complaint is that I wish they gussetted the tongue. Other than that the shoes have held up to my heal striking. They are comfortable and fit well. Plenty of room in the toe box too. I am going to use these for my 1/2 and full Marathons. Would definitely buy these again. For $ 150 you cannot beat the price.

Perfect track trainerI love the midfoot stiffness followed by the flexible toe box, it makes these shoes feel like you're putting in more work than with vaporflys for instance. So they function perfectly as a trainer and still allow you to work on your form more organically. So far they've been surprisingly durable as well.

Fast Daily TrainerThis is a really well done daily trainer that could easily be used for races. Feels light and fast like a saucony endorphin speed but with bouncier, more forgiving foam and a more spacious toebox. Gripped solidly on wet sidewalks. I found it a bit voluminous on my med-narrow midfoot and ankle but was able to lace lock and get a good hold. The tongue is too short IMO, risking lace bite. I plan to put a bit of gauze under it for more comfort during long runs. I got my usual adidas size (1/2 size down from Nike, Saucony, New Balance) and had a full thumb width of length so I’d say TTS though narrow footed folks might find that a bit roomy.

Possible Asics blast series alternativeI am loving the SL for 5k up to HM distances. The SL makes my feet roll forward and turn over quickly. Lots of cushion, but not squishy. My primary shoes have been Asics Superblast 2 for long runs, Asics Novablast 4 for medium distance everyday runs and Puma Nitro Deviate 2 for races. This SL could be a blast series killer. These Evo SL's are now my fav all around shoe for everything except a 5K race (Puma's).

Nice tempo ShoeWas looking for something to replace the Saucony Speed 2s in-terms of Drop, stack height etc. feels perfect in those areas, light and efficient with good response. (I am 5"7 and 126). Originally bought a 8.5 but the toe box was a bit wider than usual so sold it off and got a size 8 which fits perfect. Works well for tempo to moderate Intervals @ 345km Paces

The anti-adidas fitCan't say enough about the LSP foam, and a beautiful big hunk of it here is a very good thing. However, this deviates so so so much from a traditional adidas fit. The toe box is just so big and bulky, I can't sinch it down enough at all. Adidas has reliably been the narrowest brand that I'll wear (not always a good thing depending on the purpose of the shoe), but this is almost comically different. Happy to keep the shoe and use it for many miles, might even buy it again, but they just missed a home run by a few mm of width on that toe box.

TEN “STARS”Wow, what a great training or tempo shoe. Super comfortable, light and springy. Not much break in required and a pure joy to run in. light and quickReally fun, quick shoe. They look amazing. Out of the box, the shoe felt unstable on me due to the soft foam, and I was nervous they were too soft, however they felt great during a treadmill run. I wanted to go faster-than-usual, and my feet/legs felt awesome. I haven't run outside with them yet. They are very roomy in the toe box (and I have slightly wider toes). I love a ton of toe room, but these feel *almost* too roomy. The ankle collar seemed to rub the inside of my right ankle when I tried them on, but I didn't notice any rubbing during my run. A totally different shoe than the SLs (I have the first version- which are very stiff, and I do not love running in them). If you straddle two sizes like I do, I would go with the smaller option. So far so good.

This is my new go to daily trainerI’ve been running years in NB 1080’s and Nike Invisibles averaging 50+ miles a week. I’ve never been a fan of Adidas until now. This is a fantastic shoe. It feels light on the feet. It has great cushioning while still feeling responsive. It ran true to size and felt extremely comfortable throughout the run even when I picked up paces in the 6’s. Adidas really knocked one out on this one.

The Holy GrailAfter buying a bunch of shoes this year, I can confidently say that the Evo SL are my second favorite shoes right out of the box, next to my AP3s. The men's variant sold out but I went up a size in Woman's and it fits me perfectly, make sure to follow the Adidas size chart since every shoe company is different. I really wanted to like the SL2 but I just wasn't understanding why people were speaking so highly about it besides it being affordable...the Evo SL is on a different level and gives a smooth and bouncy ride. Can't wait to run more in these!

Nicely done - great bang for your buckGot mine yesterday, returned it today. Beautiful, simplistic design - relatively stable platform w/a durable, proven midsole. I saw differing specs regarding stack heights, and I was hoping it would be akin to the Mach 6 - it seemed much higher. While it felt very, very cushioned, I had no ground contact whatsoever - and for my decades on the road, that’s essential for my staying injury-free. If you’re accustomed to relatively plush shoes, this one is worth every penny of it’s very reasonable price.

Best shoe in yearsThis is just an amazing shoe. It is fast, light, cushy without being mushy. Has the response to go fast but softness to take the harshness out of the ground impact. Absolutely love the rocker profile. I am both a cadence and stride runner if that makes sense (180 spm to over 200 spm when picking up pace but stride length can go from 1.1 to 1.5meters so maybe someone can tell me which I am). It does fit about half size large but my regular size works fine although the toe box is quite roomy. I am considering sizing down half a size for my 3rd pair. The shoe is fun to run in. I actually look forward and enjoy the ride in these shoes more than any shoe in recent memory. I like the Evo SL better than the new AP4s which are a bit too soft for my liking. Adidas please do not change the foam formulation. This foam version is a perfect blend of soft and responsiveness although a slightly firmer or softer tweak would still make the shoe work well.
