The seamless one-piece knit mesh upper offers a smooth feel, with a well-padded heel collar and tongue adding a touch of plush comfort without feeling overly bulky. The testers noted that the adaptive lacing system provides a secure fit, accommodating various foot shapes and allowing for a bit of toe splay while securely locking in the midfoot and heel.
The dual-layer cushioning system, featuring PWRRUN PB foam and a supportive PWRRUN foam frame, was a standout feature for our testers. They described the underfoot experience as comfortable and responsive, with just the perfect amount of protection to handle both short and long distances. The CenterPath Technology, with its higher sidewalls and broad base, provides a stable ride that supports the foot through the stride without feeling overly corrective or intrusive. The rocker shape and responsive foam contribute to a smooth, efficient ride, making it easy to cruise through miles while keeping the body ready for more.
The upper's breathable design also received positive feedback for its breathability, helping keep feet cool even in hot summer weather conditions. Our testers appreciated the balance of cushioning and flexibility, noting that the strategic placement of outsole rubber enhances durability without adding unnecessary weight. The Hurricane 24's outsole offers reliable traction on various surfaces, ensuring confidence whether running on paved roads or light trails.
Overall, the Hurricane 24 was a versatile and reliable running shoe throughout the testing period, proving itself more than suitable for a broad range of daily runs. Our In-Depth Look
Upper
Liz: "The one-piece knit mesh upper has a seamless feel on the foot. I appreciated how smooth the padding of the heel collar and tongue felt. They offered a touch of plush comfort without feeling bulky or suffocating. The fit accommodated my wide feet and offered a bit of toe splay while securely locking in my midfoot and heel with the slightly structured overlays and secure lacing system."
Marie: "The Hurricane's mesh upper was very comfortable and wrapped around my foot incredibly well. The Hurricane's lacing system was very secure, and I appreciated that it did not cause any uncomfortable lace bite. Furthermore, I loved the level of padding in the tongue, delivering that extra bit of comfort on the top of my foot. My feet do not tend to run too hot, but the Hurricane felt very breathable, always keeping my feet cool, even in Atlanta's summer heat. There is a lot to like about this shoe's upper, and with its adaptable design, I am sure runners will find the Hurricane 24 very comfortable."
Midsole
Liz: "While the Hurricane does not provide pillowy plushness, there is just the right amount of sink-in softness for comfort, no matter the distance of my run or walk. The shoe offers a ton of impact protection and feels like a max-cushion shoe underfoot. That said, I was very surprised by how smooth and stable the ride was, given the stack height of the midsole.
The new CenterPath Technology does a wonderful job stabilizing my foot with its higher sidewalls, medial support, wide base, and dual-density foams. My foot feels cradled inside the shoe and supported through my stride without feeling like the shoe is forcing a correction in my gait, making the Hurricane a versatile option for neutral runners and those who need pronation support. As a bonus, the smooth rocker and PWRRUN PB foam give the Hurricane a surprisingly efficient and responsive ride that makes cruising miles feel super easy."
Marie: "From the first time I laced up, I loved the comfort provided by the midsole. I did a good long walk in the Hurricane right out of the box to get an initial feel for the shoe, and it was impressively comfortable underfoot. The Hurricane also felt nice and stable, probably due to the broad base and CenterPath Technology. On the run, I loved the responsiveness of the PWRRUN PB, which gave me an efficient and energetic stride. If you need to do some repeats or fartlek runs, this shoe can give you the boost you need to hit uptempo paces. Honestly, the Hurricane 24 was a welcome surprise for me—it was very fun to run in!"
Outsole
Liz: "The outsole rubber is strategically placed to reduce weight while offering the necessary durability and traction. I appreciate that there is no full-length rubber coverage, as it allows the shoe to have a touch of flexibility, keeping it from feeling too stiff due to its high stack of foam."
Marie: "I have no worries about the Hurrcane's durability. I ran on paved roads and some light trails and had no issues with traction. I did not get a chance to run in wet, rainy conditions, but with the Hurricane's strategically placed rubber outsole, I would not hesitate to grab the Hurricane when the roads are wet."
Comparable Shoes
Saucony Hurricane 24 vs. Saucony Triumph 22
Marie: "I loved my experience with the Saucony Hurricane 24; it offered great comfort and responsiveness during my test runs. It reminded me a bit of the Saucony Triumph, but with a slightly firmer underfoot experience while being just as comfortable underfoot. If I had to choose one shoe to keep in my rotation, I would pick the Hurricane as my go-to daily trainer."
Saucony Hurricane 24 vs. ASICS Kayano 31
Liz: "The Kayano 31 is one of the most popular stability shoes on the market. Recent models are very different from their predecessors and align closely with the changes seen in the new Hurricane 24. Both shoes feature a significant increase in cushioning and protection underfoot, along with modern stability technologies that cater to all types of runners, not just overpronators. The Kayano does not offer enough arch support for my high arches, and the upper feels slightly more restrictive. Both shoes provide a similar level of softness, and while the Hurricane feels and looks a bit bulkier on foot, I found that the rocker and PWRRUN PB foam gave it a slightly bouncier feel that was fun for cruising on my easy runs."
Saucony Hurricane 24 vs. Saucony Guide 17
Liz: "Both the Hurricane and Guide have been Saucony’s longstanding stability models, with the Hurricane being the more cushioned and premium option and the Guide being the standard daily training option. With recent updates, the brand now markets both models as 'max cushion' instead of 'stability.' Thankfully, both shoes still provide a moderate level of stability that this overpronator appreciates, and the new CenterPath Technology will work well for most neutral runners. Between the two models, the Hurricane is a better option for those looking for a more premium ride and lasting durability. While the Guide 17 is great for those seeking a lightweight, max-cushioned shoe with a more flexible and smooth ride."
Individual Thoughts

The new Hurricane 24 looks like a beast and definitely draws some attention with its eye-catching, maximally cushioned midsole—so much so that I think we might see it in the fashion world alongside the HOKA Bondi and other similar shoes. While it looks bulky, I found that the shoe felt surprisingly light on the foot thanks to the dramatic rocker and the responsive PWRRUN PB foam featured in the midsole. The combination gives this shoe a very smooth rolling ride that had me cruising at a variety of paces, from my moderate runs around an 8:00 pace to slower runs around a 10 to 10:30 minute pace. I ended up really enjoying running in this shoe, and I found myself grabbing it for most of my daily runs, easy runs, and long runs throughout the testing period.
On top of that, I also gravitated to it for casual wear, especially when I knew I would be standing or walking for long periods. The protection offered by the midsole is unmatched, and while it's not marshmallowy soft, the cushioning is incredibly comfortable and impact-dampening.
I found the fit to be comfortable and accommodating for my wide feet, and I really enjoyed the lockdown of the upper. It felt secure without being restrictive.
Overall, the Hurricane 24 is a good option for those looking for a truly max-cushioned shoe. It is protective and stable while still feeling smooth, nimble, and surprisingly efficient, especially given its stack height. While its look might be polarizing, it is a great option to consider in the category, and I would personally choose it over models like the Kayano or Bondi for my long and easy runs.

This was my first time running in the Hurricane, but knowing that the past versions were solid stability shoes, I see this revamped iteration as a whole new focus for this model to capture a wider audience of runners. For me, I appreciate the subtle support of a stability shoe, and the Hurricane provided the perfect amount for my needs. When I used to run competitively, Saucony was my go-to brand in college, and reviewing the Hurricane has brought back nostalgic memories of those good old days! Nowadays, I am a 3- to 4-mile, 5-day-a-week runner, and I found the Hurricane to be a great addition to my daily running routine and shoe rotation.
It offers copious amounts of comfort for running longer miles thanks to its energetic, efficient, and protective ride. The max cushioning without the traditional medial post was comfortable and delivered consistent and reliable support, which I also believe would be appreciated by neutral runners. The revamped Hurricane 24 successfully combines stability, performance, and cushioning in a way that appeals to a broad range of runners, making it an excellent choice for daily training.
