  • Daily TrainersDaily Trainers

The baseline definition of a running shoe. Daily Trainers lean on time-proven designs, technologies and features for dependable cushioning, support and comfort. They're a staple in every runner's closet, and if you are new to running shoes, then you should start your journey here.

  • Performance TrainersPerformance Trainers

Performance Trainers provide a springy feel and make longer runs easier and faster runs faster. While quicker than Daily Trainers, Performance Trainers are not nearly as fast as Super Shoes. Due to a focus on keeping things light weight, Performance Trainers are less durable than Daily Trainers. These can also be a good option for one's first race shoe.

  • Super ShoesSuper Shoes

Super Shoes are the fastest running shoes you can buy. They are designed to race your absolute best and represent the pinnacle of running shoe technology and innovation. They have the highest energy return foams and plates for new levels of performance. Low durability, but maximum speed is the name of the game here.

  • Snowy & Icy TrailsSnowy & Icy Trails

These shoes feature technical outsoles designed to grip snowy and icy trails making them ideal for winter trail running.

Cushioning Level

  • Cushioning level, or stack height, refers to how much shoe is between your foot and the ground. For this category, we reference the amount of cushioning below the forefoot as the heel height will be equal to or greater than the forefoot height.
Learn more about stack heights and how we measure them.

  • Barefoot

0-13mm. The Shoe generally does not have a midsole and feels like there is no cushioning. This shoe is all about feeling the ground underfoot.

  • Minimal

14-18mm. The shoe has a thin midsole that allows for a natural running experience. Racing shoes and minimalist shoes are common here. These shoes offer a feeling of being connected to the road or trail.

  • Low

19-23mm. The shoe has a slightly cushioned feel and may feature added cushioning technologies. Performance training shoes and some trail shoes are common here. These offer protection during footstrike but prioritize a lightweight, grounded experience.

  • Medium

24-28mm. These shoes have a stack height that fall near the middle of the spectrum. The shoes in this category are verstaile and great for all types of runs and distances.

  • High

29-34mm. The shoe has a thick midsole and ample cushioning. These shoes are highly protective and absorb more impact than the body.

  • Maximal

35mm plus. The shoe has an extremely thick midsole and extra cushioning. The focus is on protection and soft foam underfoot with hardly any ground feel.

Stability Level

  • Neutral

Neutral shoes support the foot through a normal range of arch collapse and generally do not have a built-in technology to correct movement.

  • Stable

Stability shoes are a great option for those who overpronate or need added support. These shoes help to limit the inward rolling motion of the ankle while running or walking and assist in guiding the foot straight through the gait cycle.

How We Measure Our Shoe Specs

  • We measure every shoe in-house to provide accurate and consistent details.

  • Weight

The weight is based on a Men's size 9 for Men's and Unisex shoes or Women's size 8 for Women's shoes. The weight listed is for a single shoe, including the laces.

  • Heel Stack

The heel stack refers to how high your heel sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Forefoot Stack

Forefoot stack refers to how high the ball of the foot sits above the ground when wearing shoes. Based on Men's size 9 as the standard.

  • Heel-toe Offset

Heel-toe offset (drop) is the difference in height between the heel stack and the forefoot stack. We use the number given to us by the brand.

How We Measure Shoe Fit

  • All measurements are based on Medium width.

  • Fit (width) options are Narrow - Snug - Average - Roomy - Wide.

  • Sizing (length) options are Short - True - Long. Note: fit is relative to the "average" running shoe.

  • We partner with SmartLast, a program by Heeluxe, to use advanced shoe-measuring technology, to provide objective measurements for toe box, midfoot, and heel widths as well as overall length.

So underratedMore protective and bouncy than the Dragonfly Elite 2, almost more like a supershoe with a spike plate. The LD-X isn't as flat out fast as a dragonfly or victory, so I wouldn't use it for an 800, maybe for the mile, but for anything above that, it's phenomenal. Best value spike you can get.

The most underrated spikeI had not seen many reviews online about this spike but I saw them on sale here so i decided to get a pair. I would describe it as a mix between the dragonfly and the Cloudspike 10000. It has that high stack height but is also extremely cushioned and bouncy. The full length carbon plate makes it very aggressive and stiff, meaning that it has the range from 800 all the way to 5k. I can also see these being amazing in the steeplechase due to the lightweight mesh upper. Unless you have a wide of pretty narrow foot I would say these fit true to size. Although they don’t have removable spikes, they still provide excellent traction, but it would be nice to throw some xc spikes in them and try them out on some grass. Overall this is a phenomenal spike and I don’t know why no one wears it.

Best Spike I’ve OwnedThe NB LD-X is easily the best spike I have ever raced in. I really enjoyed the dragonfly for a couple of years before NB released this. I didn’t think the dragonfly could be beaten, but this blows the Nike spikes away. I used it all the way from indoor through outdoor and it felt great with every race. Very well cushioned and the carbon plate gives an excellent propulsive feel. I like that the built in spikes are titanium because it makes the durability much higher. I’ve walked on concrete with these things and the concrete was damaged more than the spikes were (I may or may not have put some holes in the bathroom floor at the armory). Seriously though, I cannot oversell these. I convinced my teammate who was 100% on the dragonfly bandwagon to try them out and now he is 100% loyal to the NB spikes. If you have a good footstrike and put a lot of force into the ground when you run, you will not regret getting these. All people who don’t like them seem to be big heel strikers, so maybe steer clear if that is you. Otherwise, get it!

Honestly a solid spikeShould last you one season, just be careful you don't walk on any concrete with them. It's pretty much a game of making sure the spikes last as long as they can. I do really love the feel of these spikes though, so I do recommend despite non-replacable spikes.

Great shoeI purchased these for my son because his teammates and competitors were all wearing the carbon plated Nike spikes and he still had conventional track spikes. These were much less expensive and bonus is they match his team colors. He wasn’t completely sold on them until the first time he ran with them on the track in practice. Then he loved them! He said they felt super springy and light weight. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is because of the permanent spikes that aren’t replaceable. However, I could almost purchase two pairs of these for the price of one pair of the other brand.

Direct Competitor to the DragonflyI have ran a 5k, 1500, and 4x400 in these and I would recommend if you’re not a fan of other competitive spikes. I am a previous Nike Dragonfly user and I would say that the rides are similar, yet I prefer the LD-X because of the upper and how much more propulsion I perceived when striking the ground. Super stable lacing system with phenomenal ventilation; reminiscent of the RC Elite V2. The FuelCell foam is very stiff, yet provides a lot of bounce when I push off of the ground. If you don’t mind being a little further off of the ground I would recommend these for competition. My only issue with the spike is how it isn’t very wide under my foot. While I have never experienced a problem with it, I just prefer a shoe that provides a little more stability under my toes. Like I said previously, you can stay at a constant pace very comfortably, and get going when the going gets tough.

Great spikes, but..Great spikes, pretty cushy, springy. Only problem I’ve had has been the spikes getting dull. The spikes being titanium doesn’t mean you can’t destroy them. I walked on a rug at home and they got flattened a bit. Be careful and as always only wear them on the track.
