Ladies and gentlemen, we have an official 'version 2' from Speedland! Celebrate the occasion with the GS:TAM 2, an original icon that's back and better than ever. Inspired by the trails of gorgeous Mt. Tam in Northern California, this update builds on the blueprint for the ultimate trail running shoe for long distances, ultramarathons, or all the daily training you desire.
Leading with the midsole, you'll enjoy the increased performance and longevity of beaded ATPU superfoam, an upgrade over the original's Pebax. Inside this carrier shell and right underfoot, a drop-in core layer of proprietary foam adds plush responsiveness. Like other Speedland models, this core is removable to add an optional Carbitex GearFlex carbon fiber plate (sold separately), if you'd like to add some firmness and propulsion.
Moving to the upper, the breathable spacer mesh keeps your feet cool and dry, with a revised PerformFit Wrap to give you an even better fit and feel. Now with a supple knit tongue area and improved placement of the straps, you can customize your ideal fit with two multi-directional Li2 dials. These let you make secure micro-adjustments quickly and easily, so you can tighten up for challenging descents or loosen for more comfort on the flats.
Lastly, the deeper 6.5 mm lugs of Michelin rubber offer plenty of aggressive bite for soft ground or loose terrain. If you want even smoother runnability, the lug tips are designed as cuttable blocks if you want to snip them shorter. And as before, you still have the option to cut open the drainage hole under the arch to improve dry-out time after creek crossings.
Altogether, the Speedland GS:TAM 2 is slightly taller and significantly lighter than before. It combines rugged capability and plush protection to take on anything and keep your legs fresher as the miles, hours, and vert stack up.

Weight
Weight is measured per single shoe, including laces. Men's and unisex styles are based on a men's size 9, and women's styles are based on a women's size 8.

Technologies
MIDSOLE
- Beaded 100% ATPU superfoam is supercritical aliphatic TPU for higher energy return, superior abrasion resistance, and long-lasting performance. This external bottom layer forms a carrier shell around the internal drop-in core.
- Proprietary drop-in core foam is a thick layer (15 mm heel / 10 mm forefoot) of a supercritical blend of OBC, EVA, and nylon compounds for a slightly plusher but still responsive underfoot experience.
- Re Plate System allows insertion and removal of an optional Carbitex GearFlex carbon fiber plate (sold separately). This shoe isn't compatible with custom or third-party orthotics, insoles, or inserts.
OUTSOLE
- Michelin OC3 Fiberlite rubber offers improved durability, flexibility, and grip on variable surfaces, with a lighter overall build.
- 6.5 mm lugs offer deep traction on softer dirt, mud, and loose terrain. The lug tips are designed as cuttable blocks so you can trim them shorter if you often run on dry, hard-packed trails.
- Optional drainage hole under the arch comes sealed but gives you the ability to cut it open if you want faster dry-out times.
UPPER
- Spacer mesh is light and breathable, with strategic high-tenacity fiber for durability. The ankle collar has been subtly updated for better fit and comfort.
- PerformFit Wrap includes a premium knit tongue and refines the placement of three supportive overlays to securely wrap all key areas of your foot.
- BOA Fit System uses two multi-directional Li2 dials to engage the PerformFit Wrap. These dials offer micro-adjustability in both directions, allowing you to easily tighten the fit for bombing descents and loosen the fit for comfort as often as you like.
