Erik has been a runner since the first day of summer practice for high school cross country more than 37 years ago. He ran throughout high school and college and continued running extensively after graduating. When his collegiate eligibility ended, Erik jumped straight into a marathon and immediately fell in love with the distance. He soon transitioned to trail running, where he discovered ultra-marathons. Over the past 27 years, Erik has completed more than 80 ultra-marathons across a wide range of distances.
While he still enjoys running on the roads, trail running has captured Erik's focus for most of the past three decades. He's happiest exploring the trails near his home and traveling to new destinations in search of fresh trail running experiences.
