The Diadora Corsa is for you if...
- You want a jack-of-all-trades shoe that can fill in for an entire rotation.
- You need a recovery shoe, but don't prefer the excessive stack heights of max-cushioned shoes.
- You like a buoyant midsole that compresses and bounces back well.
What is the Diadora Corsa made for?
In the age of specialization, with speed-based performance trainers, long-run performance trainers, race-day options, recovery options, and a thousand other categories, it can feel daunting to figure out where to start.
But the Corsa helps solve that problem.
The Diadora Corsa is a strong contender for anybody who's looking for one shoe to do everything well, whether you're kicking off your running journey, or you're an experienced runner looking to simplify your rotation. With enough responsiveness and bounce to get you moving on workout days, and enough body and cushioning underfoot to help you recover when your legs are beat up, the Diadora Corsa takes everything in stride.
From the buoyant Anima N2 supercritical foam to the well-cushioned upper, the Corsa feels good on foot. It's an energetic daily trainer that provides a consistently enjoyable experience and functions well as a jack-of-all-trades shoe. We had some reservations about the upper being a bit overbuilt, and the slim may be too narrow for some. But for the right runner, the Corsa's versatility makes it a great choice.
Our Breakdown
Performance
This is a shoe that is supposed to feel good across lots of different paces, and the Corsa delivers. It's comfortable for cruising, but has an efficiency to it that makes running fast feel good also.
"I would describe this foam a little more on the firm side...[but] there is definitely enough pop to get you through fast or workout days."
The rocker is noticeable, but not overly aggressive, and helped us to get onto our toes at quicker paces, while the broad base geometries provided inherent stability and there is a generous helping of outsole rubber that's both sticky and durable. The outsole gives great coverage, especially under the forefoot, so we do not foresee any issues with longevity.
The main thing holding the Corsa back performance-wise is its weight. While similar in weight to other shoes in our energetic daily trainer category, the bulk of the upper is noticeable.
Comfort
The foam underfoot feels nice, and it has a pleasant squish to it while still leaning a bit towards firm. It was a good balance for protecting our feet on long runs while still letting us bound through faster days.
The upper is different and feels modernized compared to other Diadora shoes, but still feels a touch inflexible and less adaptive than we would have preferred. The material is breathable, but there is so much padding and so many overlays that the shoe started to feel bulky, overstuffed, and narrow in some ways.
It's one of the more cushioned shoes in the energetic daily trainer category, and could have benefitted from a bit more streamlining.
Fit
We found the Corsa's fit to be fairly standard for running shoes. The fit is secure, and we got a nice wrap of our arches. It has a gusseted tongue, but there seems to be enough forgiveness there to avoid any hot spots on the top of the foot for high-volume feet. We did not experience any hot spots ourselves and were able to easily get good lockdowns.
With Diadora being an Italian brand, it's not surprising for the fit to be slightly narrow. If you have medium-width feet, you'll be fine, as the fit isn't overwhelmingly restrictive. But runners with wide feet, or runners who prefer some extra room for their toes, should be forewarned.
Comparison
Diadora Corsa vs. ASICS Novablast 6
"The Novablast has a better upper, with a sleek tongue and nice, universal fit. The cushioning of the Corsa is more dynamic, and the rocker is better for faster paces. You can pick up the pace in the Novablast, but the Corsa is better suited for speed. If you lean cruiser comfort, go with the Novablast. If you seek true versatility, go with the Corsa." -Jonathan
Diadora Corsa vs. HOKA Mach 7
"This is a surprising comparison for me. The Corsa is just a touch lighter in weight, but the Mach feels lighter on foot. HOKA is the brand known for a lot of cushioning, yet the Corsa feels more cushioned and indeed has more foam underfoot. The Corsa is better at faster paces and is just as comfortable as the Mach at slower paces, but the Mach has a light airy feel." -Jonathan
"I think this is the most spot-on comparison, and I am torn on which one I prefer out of these two. For a more responsive experience and slightly softer foam that still leans toward firm, the Corsa wins. To me, it feels a little more versatile for fast days. For a better upper fit and more room in the toes, the Mach wins." -Ava
Diadora Corsa vs. New Balance Rebel v5
"I found the Rebel and Corsa to be quite similar. Overall, the fit of the Rebel is better in the sense that it will fit more foot types. The Corsa has more padding underfoot, but both shoes work very well at a variety of paces. Unless you need a roomier fit, the choice here is pretty much a coin flip." -Jonathan

Individual Thoughts

Ava
Overall, this is a nice shoe. It is very versatile and performed well on a variety of runs at different paces. The foam underfoot feels nice and leans a bit firmer. I felt protected with the amount of cushioning underfoot on long runs and on faster days.
I do wish the upper was a little bit more forgiving and a touch wider through the midfoot and toe box. But it wasn’t enough to size up since the length feels true to size.
If you want one shoe to do it all, this is a great option. If you have a robust rotation already, it might be difficult to find a place for the Corsa since it is not as specialized.

Jonathan
Not a lot of people know Diadora, but I have been very happy with the underfoot feel of their shoes. Both the max-cushion Cellula and workhorse Nucleo provide good running experiences and are on par with most shoes in their respective categories. The fits could be slightly better, and the prices could be about 10% less.
The energetic daily category has most shoes between $145 and $160, so the Corsa slots nicely at $155. The foam and underfoot feel of the Corsa is once again a great execution from Diadora. A cushioned feel is balanced with a dynamic ride that feels excellent at slower and faster paces. The fit and upper are still lagging in the competition, but they are not uncomfortable or issue-prone. If you want to take a chance on a lesser-known brand, you will likely be surprised by how good the Corsa performs.
