Is it your first time doing track & field? Don't worry! We are here to help guide you to finding the spikes or shoes you need to get started. Once you've decided what event you want to focus on, you'll need the right shoes.
For beginner track & field athletes who are still figuring our their favorite events, a multi-purpose spike is a great place to start. These spikes have the capability & comfort to handle all the different track & field events.
These spikes feature less cushioning and a snugger fit. They are best suited for those running in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 100/110m hurdles, 300m/400m hurdles, 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m relay events.
Distance spikes can be broken down into two categories. Middle distance, which generally includes the 800m, 1500m, and 1600m, and long distance, which generally includes the 3000m, 3200m, 5000m, and 10000m events. These spikes contain a higher level of cushioning and less aggressive design to allow for greater comfort over the longer distances.
The shot put, hammer, & discus events are the ultimate display of throwing power. For beginners, we recommend a textured outsole throwing shoe which will better allow the new athlete to control their throw and develop their technique.
The track & field jump events include the long jump, triple jump, high jump, & pole vault. We recommend that new jumpers get a shoe with more padding in the heel to help cushion the jumper upon takeoff and improve overall comfort for new athletes.
